Re: Perfect SMBX Screenshot Thread 10

The holes aren't bad, but the level might look better without them. What's bothering me the most is how the lava uses the exact same colors as the cave tileset, maybe try a different shade of green for it.

Re: Perfect SMBX Screenshot Thread 10

@AirShip: Great graphics, they fit in fairly well with the original YI ones. Solid design, too. @Uchiha Madara: Not bad, but I agree on the treetops looking weird at the moment, I recommend working on a nicer-looking one (just adding some leaves could also work). I'm also not too fond of the level's...

Re: Super Mario Bros. X - Grand Extravaganza!

I post the same thing on every single contest and never get anything decent done in time, but I'll try to actually finish a contest entry for once. Been a while since I've last done anything with SMBX though, hopefully I'm not super bad at them marios.

Re: Perfect SMBX Screenshot Thread 10

@arcade999: I don't mind keeping the green theme, as it does fit in with the acid theme you're going for, but the colors still need some variety, try using different shades of green (e.g. make the background darker and less saturated). @MosaicMario: Solid graphics, both the shading and the palettes ...

Re: Screenshot thread number NEIN (9)

I'd recommend black (or at least darker) outlines for the FG blocks, but other than that it looks neat.

uh what? if he's posting here he likely wants feedback on his stuff you know ^^' no need to get mad over it or anything, he wasn't particularly rude about it or anything imo. ----------- neat stuff @wind, not very complex but it seems like a pretty cool fight from what I can see, aesthetically it's ...

Why don't you guys just start an official poll or something, this is going nowhere like this

Re: SVLC 2016

WARNING: KINDA HUGE POST The notes THEMSELVES are not the review, just extra notes I had. While it is true I could've been more constructive, I still find my most immediate and truthful words to be more worthwhile than another review that four other judges are already going to cover. As for the "ful...

Re: SVLC 2016

They have experience in wasting so much time into SMBX and contests, whereas I only have so much patience or attention span to deal with the same monotonous tasks. sorry but why are you judging then :v Judging a contest isn't exactly an easy task you know, if you don't have the time or patience etc...

Re: Your controversial SMBX opinion

Opinion: This forum doesn't really take SMBX too seriously, it's fine as it is. The only thing that could be considered "too serious" is criticism which, as long as it's constructive, helps us improve (and that's a pretty cool thing). And yeah pls don't turn this into some super annoying fight etc, ...

Re: Screenshot thread number NEIN (9)

Awesome work with the crystal pipes @Enjl, the palette definitely works a lot better now. It works well with everything else too. @Mario_and_Luigi_55: Seems solid, but the giant bullet bill blaster is very out of place - it doesn't appear to have been correctly resized, and those giant pixels look r...

Re: Top 10: Best designers

The thing is, we often need more than a level to accurately judge how good you guys are at doing them marios I guess (unless it's super mega extraordinarily good). Try being a bit more active here and post levels a bit more frequently and you guys will certainly start getting more attention \o/ Also...

Re: Project Tips

I'd like to suggest some extra attention to the difficulty curve in episodes. Sure, it shouldn't be all over the place, with "insanely hard level, 'flat stretch of land' difficulty, repeat", but a perfectly smooth difficulty curve isn't really interesting either. Occasionally having (small) difficul...

Re: Screenshot thread number NEIN (9)

@Yoshi021: Yea that looks a lot better. Nice use of the tileset by the way! @MrPunchia: Really liking the atmosphere here overall, the recolored tileset is neat too. I think the original SMB3 background (recolored, of course) could fit better (I think that's Sednaiur's version???) even if it's a bit...

Re: Need help with lua? - LunaLua General Help

Not really my code or anything but I'm having trouble getting ParalX.lua to work (even on the example level there) :v Apparently I'm getting some error related to Graphics.draw - I really can't Lua (so it's likely it's just me being stupid lol) but I think it has to do with the version I'm using, th...

Re: Screenshot thread number NEIN (9)

@Squishy Rex: It really bothers me how the brick BGOs havce solid outlines while the solid blocks don't :v Otherwise nice stuff, the level seems pretty fun. I think that it's just you It's not. Even if it's fine for some I see no reason not to make them more readable anyway. Other than that the map ...
