switch-goomba what´s the special?

Postby Drachenbauer » Thu Oct 01, 2015 1:27 pm

I blaced switch-goombas and switches in a level.
But the switches have got no effect to the goombas...

What is the special of theese four goombas?

If you placed a red switch block and a red switch goomba, killing the goomba will trigger the block

Or deactivate the same color blocks, if they were previously active.

In general, the switch Goombas are a holdover from the pre-events era of SMBX (they were previously the only way that killing an enemy could open up a new area). You're probably better off using "no more objects in layer" on a group of enemies to trigger an event that opens up the new path.

So basically if you destroy all existing switch goombas at the same area it will trigger the switches at the same color and you have 4 of them like the regular switches that SMBX has.

these goombas give me the idea to change them into the giant !-switch-buttons of SMW by using their sprites and some npc-codes.

That's actually a nice idea for your level but the problem is that it's only affects into one level rather than globally in a game until you use LunaLua.

Another idea is an enemy that carries a switch on it's back, and when killed, spawns a real switch; because the one in it's back is just graphic effects.
