Re: Favorite and Least Favorite Mario Game

I was talking about the Western version, when it was changed back to SMB damage system as the item reserve acted as extra heath. ...And I was talking about the fact that these games were developed in Japan and then converted for the international market. SMW didn't "change back", because in Japan, ...

That's not true. The damage system simply didn't change between SMB3 and SMW in Japan. The American release added in the progressive damage system for SMB3, but it wasn't done for SMW.

Re: Mile & Kilo (A mobile game by Micheal Burns)

"12-bit" would be a word size of 12 bits. 12-bit registers could hold 12 bits (integers up to 2^12, or 4096) at one time, so a 12-bit processor would be one that is capable of efficiently processing numbers up to 4096. If a game is "12-bit", I would assume that means it only works with 12-bit proces...

Re: What if Super Mario Bros never existed?

Even saying that the video game crash wouldn't have ended without Nintendo is absurd. This crash was almost entirely localized to the United States and caused for very trivial reasons. Video games coming back as something that lots of people do was practically inevitable. All Nintendo was arguably r...

Re: What if the Famicom Disk System was successful outside of Japan

Nintendo would never have allowed that. Floppy disks are much easier to copy than cartridges, and they cannot incorporate electrical circuitry (and thus would have made it impossible for Nintendo to impose censorship via the 10NES chip; some other jail would have had to have been designed). But if t...

It's a libre, binary-compatible remake of Windows.

The only good version of Windows is ReactOS. The day it gets out of alpha will be a great day.

Re: Windows Vista support is ending in 3 DAYS

what's next, Windows 7 support is gonna end next year?!? Windows Vista was supported for 10 years. That's twice as long as a long-term support Ubuntu release. And all versions of Ubuntu available in 2009 (the year Windows 7 was released) are not currently supported. You can criticize Microsoft for ...

Re: Do you think Doki Doki Panic would have been successful outside of japan

Of course not. It wasn't even successful within Japan; that's why Super Mario USA was released. It was never meant to be successful, either; it was just a promotional tie-in for an event.

you posted this in the wrong day.
Not everyone lives in the eastern hemisphere, you know. It's still April 1 in my timezone for another hour. And it'll remain April 1 for another four hours in California, and another 7 hours in Hawaii.

Re: YouTube is getting rid of the Annotations system!

I like Pitivi. It's GNU/Linux only, though. OpenShot is pretty decent if you must use Windows.

There's also a video editor in Blender which is supposedly very powerful, but I don't really understand it personally.

Re: YouTube is getting rid of the Annotations system!

Taking the video down and then reuploading it just to fix a minor textual mistake is a huge waste of time. Fixing a minor textual mistake is a waste of time, period. I mean, it's not like you're posting a résumé or something. The only mistakes you should concern yourself with correcting are informa...

Re: YouTube is getting rid of the Annotations system!

I only really use annotations to cover up mistakes in videos That doesn't work. Not everyone sees annotations at all, and even those who see them can easily turn them off. The only way to hide your mistakes is to delete the video. If you just want to explain a correction after the fact, put it in t...

Re: YouTube is getting rid of the Annotations system!

I'm going to have to argue that annotations have always been a bad thing. They depend on the official YouTube video player, which not everyone uses. They're non-standard. They aren't included in the video files. And their existence encourages sloppy practices. I don't and never will see annotations,...

Re: We are about to hit a Population Crisis

Populations don't just grow indefinitely. They grow until there are so many people that famine happens and sends them down again. This is not unusual. Of course it's bad (suffering and death is always bad), and we should do our best to solve it, but it's not a "crisis". It's just a problem that has ...

I beat "Insane" difficulty in Project: Starfighter. Though to be fair, that was in an old release, and the difficulty balance has changed since then. I think it's changed toward getting easier, though; I don't remember for sure.

Re: Paying For online Multiplayer

Like I said, could be wrong. Like I explained, you are. There isn't a "federal agency" that concerns itself with matters such as this, and the only legal mechanisms to stop people from starting fan servers are directly controlled by the developer. So if, as I suggested they should do, the developer...
