New update.

Changelog:
1. Some visual changes.

VB6 Error Code 52 means "Bad file name or number".

Did you download the patch BTW?

So, assuming the workaround works, there's also a new update.
Changelog:
1. Gold Mario/Peach/Toad/Wario/Silver Luigi will turn back to their fire forms after emitting burst particles.
2. Silver Luigi now emits silver particles.
3. Gold Flower now has shiny particle effects.

I ended up adding a workaround for the issue. The update should be supposed to work now.

I pushed another update, which should be supposed to fix the problem. I still can't happen to reproduce the bug in any way, so please show a GIF of the bug in action, otherwise I cannot fix it at all.

The explosions should not hurt the player, although it wasn't designed for 2P in mind.

Interesting fact: the modNPC.bas file contains a comment sentence with a swear word, warning people viewing the Sub method that it is the one of the largest sub methods.

If I read correctly, the devs aren't planning for Beta 5, they're instead planning for a full release.

Suggestion, add an option for fade to black on warp transitions as opposed to the cross fade.
That's more difficult to do, so I am sticking with the crossfade effect for now.
