Change your passwords + Last night's downtime

I again apologize to those who saw what unfortunately happened last night when the site was compromised briefly. Even though your passwords were likely not affected, you should change them just in case. Everything should be working well with the site now, but let the admins know if you see anything ...

WHOA WHAT HAPPENED TO THE BOARD STYLE

Hi everyone,

Today I upgraded the board software to the newest version of phpBB. I will load the SMBX style and see how much of it still works, but I'll probably have to work on it this weekend to get it back to normal. For now you'll be stuck with prosilver. Thanks for your patience! 😎

Re: Site Discussion Thread

I think around the time of its formation it was centered around zephyr and krazykoopa, who had made the original TGCA a long time ago and then NGCA around the early days of this forum, and was intended to be a team of people (perhaps led by them? but I don't think I formally asked them to do that) d...

Re: Site Discussion Thread

As far as I know, that warning sign is caused by images/files that aren't embedded using HTTPS. If you got it on the homepage that means I probably still am linking to stuff without using HTTPS, but it will definitely appear in topics because people have embedded images using just HTTP in signatures...

Re: Site Discussion Thread

Note to people creating themes: please don't model your themes after the other designs on the site (SMB3 Desert, SMB3 8-1, and SMB3 Ice) as those designs are just as easily portable to new themes here and I'd rather do that then have something that looks similar.

Re: Site Discussion Thread

Remember the point in time where Joey and the previous administration were tossing around the idea of implementing multiple board styles, and it was heavily supported and praised by a majority of the community, but it never happened? I think implementing new board styles would be a fun and brand ne...

Re: Site Discussion Thread

Because it wasn't included in the software itself before, I had to add it in (I think with an extension). The forums won't experience any significant changes, no.

Re: Site Discussion Thread

To address the board software as well as spam prevention: in mid-March the board software will be upgraded to phpBB 3.2. This will add native support for Emoji and reCAPTCHA 2.0, and I'll also be adding mobile optimization for the SMBX board style. We used to have reCAPTCHA 2.0 on the site but then ...

Re: SMBX 1.3.0.1

Please use the zip in the OP or Wohlstand's link he provided. I don't know for sure if the link you found is in fact the official installer, but even if it is you shouldn't use it for the reasons mentioned in the post that Wohlstand linked to.

Re: Site Discussion Thread

Those screenshots were meant to be used for a new SMBX2-related section or potential homepage redesign of the website. However, I'm no longer planning on doing either of those things, so there's an overwhelmingly good chance they won't end up being used. Sorry.

Re: Site Discussion Thread

Uploading of avatars and attachments has been disabled and all such files have been deleted. You'll need to reupload your avatars to an external site such as Imgur or TinyPic. Sorry for any inconvenience. Let me know if there are any issues with remote linking to avatars.

Re: Will SMBX eventually die?

Every Mario fansite uses copyrighted content and none of them get taken down. I believe this falls under fair use and/or Nintendo has no issue with it.

Re: Will SMBX eventually die?

Joey was reminded many times to stop using ads, and IIRC there was a time where this site didn't have ads because of said warnings. No there wasn't. The "reminders" were nothing more than you PMing me saying I should take down the ads. Midnight Reality doesn't host SMBX itself so there's likely no ...
