I find this Beautifly simplistic, it's something so small, but it actually makes a great difference and is over-all very smart.

I agree, you should try using the Super Mario Maker mushroom platform, it might do better.

You should make a stone tileset and some bgos.

In most cases, 3D graphics in SMBX look bad. This is an exception in my opinion. It looks interesting.
