I really like the background in the second one.

Re: (Updated) Modernized Toad NPC

The red spots look fine to me. It's the blue and yellow vest that looks odd. Try fitting a really detailed character into an SMW sprite, and it's not going to be easy.

Re: Unpopular Opinions/Free Speech Topic

I honestly stopped going to any disney movies back when toy story 4 came out and the new toy had the gay pride symbol on him. Nothing wrong with the symbol but no reason to have it in a kids movie. If there's nothing wrong, there's no reason to write it out either. Yeah, they may get to the point t...

Re: What's happening in your own life?

As if Vancouver now having what's considered the worst air quality in the world wasn't enough, the local pier is on fire, having started last night near my apartment. Now I really can't take fresh air for granted anymore.

Re: What's happening in your own life?

Hey all, I'm sorry about the situation from yesterday. I don't know what I was thinking, or if I was even thinking for that matter. I never thought about how alchohol would affect me and how much was too much. I'm probably never going to drink and text ever again now that I know. I can't really rem...

I see that it doesn't move up and down, but other than that, the flag itself looks like it's meant to be animated like the All-Stars flag. Is it animated?

The Google Drive link has a "request access" prompt instead of linking directly.

Re: What's happening in your own life?

I feel weird interrupting this, but it's on the "sobering" side, so maybe it's a good thing I forgot to mention it until now. If you're going to buy retro games in the future, DO NOT look for them on Amazon Prime. You'll probably get a reproduction instead of an authentic game. Now I feel like an id...

Re: [SMBX2] Fred's GFX Pack

The only thing I'm really worried about is the sky in the "Rocky" tileset. While it wasn't on SMBX, I've tried pixel gradients like that in the past, and they never really looked good to me. Other than that, I'm loving what I see! There is an odd tile in the middle of the "Snowy" tileset, but that's...

Re: What's happening in your own life?

Now is my 4th attempt at getting a copy of Super Smash Bros Brawl. The first one had to be refunded, the second one must have gotten lost in the mail, and the third one actually arrived...but the region is incorrect. SSB might be cursed. Every other game I've ordered was good the first time. Even a ...

Re: COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

Well, so much for British Columbia being a model for the rest of Canada. Still not the worst hit of the provinces (not by a long shot), but now there's a noticeable "curve" in new and active cases. The new curve will probably be flattened two weeks from now, as the same prevention measures are being...

Re: Have you guys ever get stuck on a Mario level/world for years?

SMB Lost Levels World 8-2 was pretty stupid. I had to look up how to beat it, not knowing there was a vine block. I already knew that Lost Levels had a lot of invisible coin blocks, but I wasn't expecting a vine. One thing I didn't figure out about SMB2 in North America is that you can duck to incre...

Re: What kind of peson were you and which kind now?

Compared to others, I had a more difficult time keeping up with current trends such as pop culture. Still true to this day, and I never keep up with internet memes. I have always been curious to try many new things, though sometimes they either cost a lot of money or were limited to the big city, wh...

This looks too hard not to repeatedly save state and load state. It's gotta be based on NES standards.

Re: How did you discover SMBX?

I had been hopping around various types of games during spare time in high school, including Mario fan gaming. I hopped between various games in order, including a game called "Monolith's Mario", Super Mario Flash 1, and Syobon Action. A while after graduating, I hopped from an IWBTG playthrough to ...

Re: SMB3 NES Yoshis repurposed from SMM2 Frog Toad Sprites

To be fair, "8-bit" graphics can only be taken so far compared to "16-bit". For an actual NES, this would probably be fine, although of course color limitations might apply.

Re: Bowser's Bosses Fights

Sounds like it's supposed to be a short but difficult episode. I found a few exploits, but that's assuming how it was programmed. I'm still more of a 1.3.0.1 player, though I played this on SMBX2, so I might have broken something. I was able to pull bosses out of the ground in the "All bosses" level...
