Re: [MONDERN LUNALUA REQUEST] Angry Sun and Flame Chomp

Bumping this since I have a level in development that I really wanna use the Flame Chomp in. Valterri's old code for it still seems to work, it's just kinda clunky and buggy. I would try out coding the NPC myself but I think it's beyond my coding skill level and my knowledge of how NPC coding works ...

Re: SMBX2 PAL Release - Feedback, Questions and Bugs here!

I noticed a weird event that happens with the SMW turn blocks (block-90) in that they have a tendency to blip out of existence, but only when a P Switch is active, and they are adjacent to an empty ? block that got turned into a coin via the P Switch effect, and said coin is collected by the player....

Re: (Request) SMW Jumping Fire Piranha Plant

Thanks a lot Enjl. I'm guessing that it won't be that hard to have normal and fire jumping piranha plants in the same level with a simple check on NPC direction. I'll have to test that out later for myself.

(Request) SMW Jumping Fire Piranha Plant

Just a simple NPC request for the rare Jumping Fire Piranha Plant (listed as Fire P-Pakkun on the Mario Wiki) variant found in Super Mario World in which it shoots two fireballs that fall left and right after the Piranha Plant is launched out of it's pipe. I'd attempt to code it myself but I don't t...

Re: Stellaire Beach - SMW [SMBX2 PAL]

What exactly is a ".scp" file? I don't believe I've heard of it before. It's a file type used usually in Super Mario World rom hacks that use music samples compatible with the SNES. Usually you need to download a program specifically for reading these files and playing them back/converting them sin...

Re: Need help with lua? - LunaLua General Help

No. onBlockHit is a function like onTick or onNPCKill. yYou don't need to check for a block to be hit every frame, nor do you need to manually call it. I basically provided a replacement to the code you had. If it's not working, please use Misc.dialog(debug message) to find out where the issue lies...

Re: Need help with lua? - LunaLua General Help

If you're on the PAL release, you can use onBlockHit instead: function onBlockHit(eventObj, v, fromUpSide, playerOrNil) if v.isValid and v.id == 283 then SFX.play(47) end end eventObj allows you to cancel the hit event, v is the block, fromUpSide is a boolean and playerOrNil is which player hit the...

Re: Need help with lua? - LunaLua General Help

So i'm trying to implement a situation where something is triggered when a block is hit without using the old event system in order to gain more control. I wanted to try this with the Block:hit function as seen on the Block Class page on the wiki, but I noticed that it only simulates a block hit and...

Re: Stellaire Beach - SMW [SMBX2 PAL]

A really stellar level, just the perfect length! Really good choice of custom graphics as well and the background is really beautiful. Also I had no idea .scp's were supported by SMX2 until I played your level so I guess I learned something new. Great job!

Block Heaven

Oh boy, another level in the SMW style! However this time with a bit of my own Lua code under the hood. It may be a bit clunky, but it was a good exercise especially since I'm getting back into coding in college classes. Anyway, this is intended to be a sort of "athletic" (or sky I guess?) style lev...

Re: SMBX2 PAL Release - Feedback, Questions and Bugs here!

Pretty sure that's been an issue with SMBX since the beginning. Some displays are worse than others, depending on resolution, resolution type (4:3/5:4/16:9/etcetera), refresh rate, and so on. SMBX is best played in windowed form. I kinda suspected as much. I've only ever used older versions of SMBX...

Re: SMBX2 PAL Release - Feedback, Questions and Bugs here!

I'm not sure if this is something that is exclusive to the PAL release (or could be just me) but I've noticed some pretty bad screen tearing when playing levels on full screen mode. It's still fairly minor and I know fixing bugs takes priority over making sure it looks nice but I thought I'd just gi...

Re: Clearpipe Hills [SMBX2pal]

Yeah, I admit I didn't put a lot of thought into the level and it was more just me playing around with some of the new features and getting a feel for the PGE editor. The Chargin' Chuck's were mostly an afterthought which is especially noticeable with the one right by the exit. I did notice however ...

Re: Clearpipe Hills [SMBX2pal]

Thanks for the feedback! I will admit that I did go a little crazy on the lava lotus lol. I guess I still have to work to overcome my tendency to place enemies just for the sake of having them.

Re: Need help with lua? - LunaLua General Help

So I'm tyring to get the player's current coordinates and store the x and y positions as variables. I thought this could be accomplished by using a for loop to create a table as you would do with other objects like npcs, however the variables I keep setting to Player.x and Player.y keep returning si...

Re: SMBX2 PAL Release - Feedback, Questions and Bugs here!

I find that it's a little annoying adding in custom blocks into the 751-1000 limit using .ini files. Especially when I have 100 blocks to add in. Mostly just because I have to define the image used in every single .ini file for each block added. Are there any plans for the future by any chance for a...

NoMoreStars' SMBX2pal Level Showcase

Here be the various levels SMBX levels that I've made! I mostly make SMW style levels that attempt to stay true to the original game including music using soundfonts from the SNES and the old-school resolution using the camera zoom feature. But why not just use SMW rom hacking tools you ask? Well I ...

Re: SMBX Tileset Compiler and Separator

This isn't working with PNGs. For some reason, half of the tiles in the combined image are empty. EDIT: looking at it quickly, it seems that the program doesn't agree with images with a bit depth of 24 Doesn't seem to support anything lower than a 24-bit color depth either, so I'm having to go into...
