Re: This site is not safe

It didn't get hacked. It was moving hosts yesterday (and something went a bit wrong in the interim, allowing some questionable things to appear). It's been transferring to a new host, and some stylesheets and, most importantly, the SSL certificate, weren't immediately transferred correctly. The site...

Atm the only thing I really wish in the game is the original keyhole exit animation from SMW.
Which... is also in SMBX2.

I'm 100% certain that screenshot is merely a mockup and was never actually a useable product. Nonetheless, I think Beta 4's collection of NPCs is shaping up nicely...

Re: Do People still use SMBX 1.3?

I use 1.3 with LunaLua, I recommend you to use it. SMBX 2.0 beta 3 gives me many errors. It's absolutely NOT recommended to use 1.3 with Lua (sometimes referred to as 1.3.0.2), if you can possibly avoid it. If you are having problems with Beta 3, you can ask one of the developers to help you get it...

Re: SMBX2 (2.0 Beta 3)

How do you pick up vegetables in this game and use Link's sword? I'm using the run button and it's doing nothing, unlike SMBX 1. The run button only runs now for me in the Platform Game Engine Editor. You must test by pressing F5, or selecting LunaTester. The PGE Alpha tester is NOT part of SMBX, a...

Re: How do i use custom backgrounds and nps?

You can't link files directly from your computer. As has already been said, you need to upload them to the internet and share that.

Re: I have some trouble...

You can use .txt files to modify NPC behaviour to some extent, including altering the graphic size and health of certain bosses. Here's a reasonable guide for how to do that: https://wohlsoft.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=532 Also, if you're new to SMBX, I would recommend learning SMBX2, rather than...

I was not talking about the beta 4 tech. I was referring to simple image drawing.
That's... the point. You can't do anything during the loading screen in beta 3, including drawing an image.

Re: SMBX2 (2.0 Beta 3)

The shadows are not "off". They're demonstrating that a light source can be used to cast a shadow on the environment using map3d's heightmaps. The light direction and ambient lighting are customisable, as is the shading style. This particular screenshot is using the cel shaded style, but it can use...

Re: SMBX2 (2.0 Beta 3)

Currently the 3D map only supports a heightmap, so you can't have sudden changes in height, only changes over one tile width.

Re: SMBX2 (2.0 Beta 3)

It'll "work" for anything, but there's no real way to make SMW world map tiles look correct, since they rely on a very specific camera angle.

Generally rompy levels happen when a designer slaps down some geometry and puts in enemies and obstacles as an afterthought.
That said, that doesn't mean romps can't be fun. Plenty of official Mario levels are romps, but they have a lot of thought put into their design.

Re: What is a romp?

Eh. These posts seem to suggest a "romp" is a boring or uninspired level. That's not the case. A romp is just a level which focuses on enemies and momentum, effectively letting you blaze your way through it. Doesn't necessarily have to be easy, but the focus of the level is essentially "move and jum...

Re: Super Mario Bros. X in Stunning 4K Ultra HD

Btw 4k doesn't mean "make everything smaller to fit more in the same space". It is more along the lines of "graphical quality is higher as there are more pixels in a certain space". Technically 4K, in the gaming context, just means "rendering at 3840x2160 resolution", which this image actually is (...

Re: Lunalua OpenGL error

A quick search suggests your processor only supports OpenGL 1.1 (and I doubt you have a dedicated graphics processor with those specs). SMBX requires OpenGL 2 or later to run. I believe Beta 4 will have a software fallback for cases like this, but for now the only thing you can do is to disable Open...

You can't change the size of background objects yet. You will be able to in beta 4.

Re: Lunalua OpenGL error

You'd be better off just installing SMBX2. You're less likely to have errors and episodes are more likely to be compatible. Give that a try and see if it fixes the issue.

Re: SMBX2 (2.0 Beta 3)

The first one kind of breaks the flow in a Metroid-styled game. You warp inside the same "zone" and get a loading screen for no reason. The latter is what I'll have to do then, but I really wanted to avoid it, as it involves extra work. In beta 4, you'll be able to customise loading screens, so war...
