Re: Characters that should be the playable characters in SMBX2 imo

You can drop it in data/graphics/costumes/<character name>/<costume name> and then use playerManager.setCostume() via LunaLua or just also copy them into your custom graphics/assets folder You can also make a local costumes/<character name>/<costume name> in your episode folder, and use that.

Re: SMBX2 (2.0 Beta 3)

You need to create a folder with the same name as your level (e.g. if your level is called "myLevel.lvl", create a folder next to it called "myLevel"), and put custom graphics in that folder. Custom graphics should have the same name as the default ones (e.g. to replace the graph...

Re: SMBX2 (2.0 Beta 3)

What are these "Dummy Blocks" etc.? I'd assume they are for custom graphics - what program should i use to make custom graphics? That's literally what we've just been discussing. No, dummy blocks are NOT for custom graphics. SMBX has a fixed number of "slots" for every object, b...

If you put a 2nd-tier powerup in a box, it'll come out as a mushroom if Mario is small.

Re: Double cherry?

You can't force the cheats without LunaLua. With LunaLua you can set the cheat buffer (or in beta 4, just activate the cheat).

Re: SMBX2 (2.0 Beta 3)

No I just added custom level sprites from the big graphics pack and others in place of the dummy blocks and they worked fine for my original 1.3 but for Beta3 they are showing up as multiples in the level pick list and on the world map. It appears to be only custom levels I added. The SMW level ico...

Ah. That's not part of SMBX2, that's for PGE. It does nothing in SMBX2.

There are I think. I'm pretty sure you can just force set the cheat buffer.

Re: Game developer

Why can't you "carry" your levels to SMBX2? Also someone is working on upside-down Venus fire traps Because smbx2 does not have somethings in 38A Hoeloe yes you are right maybe they will make version that runs 38A levels. 38A is not SMBX and never has been. It's a completely different eng...

Re: Game developer

It is sad that redigit does not interest fans too much but i can't carry my levels to smbx 2.0  . But i want inversed fire plant that throws fireballs randomly. Because there is even right or left type but not inversed. Any level made in SMBX 1.3 will be playable in SMBX2. Levels made with SMB...

Re: I just installed SMBX 2.0 and...

Uhhh... I don't know what you're looking at but there's no such thing as "foreground-1". You also mentioned a "patch 2.0", which... doesn't exist. I'm starting to think you may have accidentally installed SMBX38A, and not SMBX2. SMBX38A (also sometimes called SMBX 1.4) is not a v...

The API pages are a bit outdated, but the Codehaus discord server is a good place to learn the systems, as well as keep up to date with development.

Re: Is there any way to port 1.3 Levels into future versions?

Anything built in 1.3.0.2 or previous is compatible with SMBX2. Nothing besides levels made in SMBX 1.4 are compatible with that version Yeah, due to some things only appearing in 1.4 and not 2.0. That's not actually why. SMBX38A (a.k.a. 1.4) uses a different engine entirely. There's no guarantee t...

Re: Adjusting Moving Layer Speed

The best way to do this is through LunaLua. You can set layer speeds (in pixels per frame) there, and if you set it to number of pixels/lunatime.toTicks (number of seconds) you can use either eventu or a manual timer to stop the layer at a very specific time.

Re: Some questions

The sound and music ini files only apply to vanilla (read 1.3) sound effects and music. Things like the starman jingle can just have a file with the same name in the episode or level folder I believe.

With parametric functions it's quite easy, with x=sin(t), y=cos(t). Even without those it's possible, using y=cos(asin(x)).

Re: Your controversial SMBX opinion

How are you going to play a level if your player doesn't have a sprite? Obviously, the lack of a player sprite is below the "threshold" of what is acceptable. But once that threshold is passed, focusing on looks becomes less necessary. (think diminishing returns.) Actually it fully depend...

sorry i dont think i want 2.0 the editor seems hard i will stick with 1.3.0.1 The editor is easier than the 1.3 editor, it's just unfamiliar.
