The value of weather is an integer while the value of the screenEffects is nil.
That's because the variable is "screenEffect" not "screenEffects".

A red block means a parsing error in the .json file. In this case, you have a trailing comma on the line that reads "value-max": 50,

Re: [SMBX2 Beta 4] Test Level Crashing

"Running out of memory" is exactly what it sounds like. Your computer doesn't have enough memory to load everything.

Also you probably shouldn't have bumped a thread more than a year old.

There is currently no way to compile episodes into a .exe using SMBX2.

Re: Camera Zoom controls

You can literally just load handycam and set handycam[1].zoom, to set the player 1 camera's zoom level. A value of 1 is default, anything larger than 1 will zoom in.

Re: Stars

Stars have to be in different sections. SMBX saves collected stars by storing which section they are in, so if you put two stars in the same section, SMBX will consider them to be the same star.

This is the txt. file of background-4(smb3 fortress)
Background 4 is not SMB3 fortress, that's Background 3. Be sure to match up the number listed in the editor, not the number on the graphics.

Re: Why parallaxing backgrounds didn't work?

Hard to tell what's going on with literally no information. Share the .txt file. Show which background ID you're using in the editor. Show us what happens, and explain what you expected to see.

Without this it's basically impossible to tell what you've done wrong.

Re: Using The Original Switch Blocks (170,173,176,179) With New Custom Blocks

Just writing out words in code makes it treat that word as a variable - you need to wrap words you want to be treated as literal text in quotes. You also fundamentally misunderstand how event functions work. You can't write something like "onSwitch(yellow)" to make it only run when yellow switches a...

What? How? There is no music_ogg folder in SMBX2 that could be deleted.
Ah right. IIRC there used to be but it got removed in later versions when all the music was updated to .ogg. Had forgotten that.

Nevertheless - no-one told you to delete any files, so don't do that.

I literally have to go through every single song file and delete the music_ogg directory? i just deleted all the other songs and it still doesnt work. What???? NO DON'T DO THAT. You were told to delete REFERENCES TO music_ogg IN YOUR INI FILE, NOT DELETE THE FILES THEMSELVES. You just broke your in...

Re: SMBX2 Now in the archive! No Installer!

I think this may be my chance to get SMBX2 Beta 4. Right? I don't want to fall for a troll, but the installer is giving me a HARD time. The installer should be very simple, but if it is causing problems, you can just extract it with 7zip. The installer is just a self-extracting compressed archive, ...

Re: SMBX2 BETA 4 Release - Feedback and Suggestions here!

I have a concern. I want Beta 4 but I am unable to install it because it says it requires admin password. You said if "admin password" prevents installation, try 7-Zip. However, I can't even attempt to install 7-Zip to install SMBX because it also requires admin password. And for some reason, I can...

Re: SMBX 1.4.4 and 1.4.5 Run time error -2147024770

Yeah but saying it is irreversible is wrong It's perhaps a little exaggerated, though it was to point out that it's not an internal conversion but an active rewriting of files. You can't get the original file back once it happens, you can, however, re-convert back to 1.3, though I don't know if any...

Not true, you can use PGE to convert it back to 1.3. If you have any 38A-only features, they get removed in the conversion.
Okay sure, that is possible, but it's awkward, and it's still worth a warning that the game will automatically overwrite the level with its own version.

Re: SMBX 1.4.4 and 1.4.5 Run time error -2147024770

1. While X2 is indeed incompatible with 38A just as it is with 1.3 since X2 has different NPCs, 1.3 can still be played in 38A as long you don't use any of the exclusive stuff that is in 38A. There might be some issues, but nothing beats the Jank Redigit added in OG Smbx. It should be noted that do...

None of this is a good idea. By making these changes you're not going to be able to do this and also share anything you make with it. The purpose of lockdown.lua is, as the name suggests, to lock down the things LunaLua can load in order to prevent people from building malware in SMBX (which is extr...

Re: Help with loading an image

You never loaded the title image, nor defined camX and camY. You need to use Graphics.loadImage to load the image you want, which will be relative to your level folder unless you also run the path through Misc.resolveFile.
