You don't need it. You can just use background2-n.txt, which is there. It does exactly the same thing.

You shouldn't have any problems running SMBX2 with those specs from what I can see. Whether it's "lag free" or not depends a lot on the episodes in question, but in theory that should be just fine.

Sadly render priority doesn't work on the world map - the default renderer draws underneath everything except the HUD.

Wine is not platform-independent. Emulators can grant platform-independence. Compatibility layers cannot. That didn't provide any of the information you were asked for. What is the ID of the background you're replacing? Are you using a background2.txt file? If so, please post it.

The fact, Me and my friends were doing the same work on the TheXTech side You know full well I was referring to POST 1.3 episodes - ones with LunaLua code attached. That's the only way to ensure long-term platform-independence. Unless PCs become much more powerful and x86 Emulation becomes feasible...

You can't. Not easily anyway. Map3D re-renders the entire world map from scratch, and relies on that to display the different HUD formats. It's theoretically maybe possible to re-create but I suspect it would be a lot of work.

You don't need to do either of those. It's a lot simpler. You can just do Section(0).darkness.enabled = false.

You need a program to edit the script with. VS Code or Notepad++ are good options.

It means you've used onNPCHarm twice, just like the error says. You can't use more than one of the same handler in the same file.

.json files are just data storage, they don't do anything by themselves. A few are used by npcs and such to supply additional data to the individual npcs, which can be set in the editor, but those need to be set up using the editor .ini files to work.
