Re: SMBX2 Now in the archive! No Installer!

I think this may be my chance to get SMBX2 Beta 4. Right? I don't want to fall for a troll, but the installer is giving me a HARD time. The installer should be very simple, but if it is causing problems, you can just extract it with 7zip. The installer is just a self-extracting compressed archive, ...

Re: SMBX2 BETA 4 Release - Feedback and Suggestions here!

I have a concern. I want Beta 4 but I am unable to install it because it says it requires admin password. You said if "admin password" prevents installation, try 7-Zip. However, I can't even attempt to install 7-Zip to install SMBX because it also requires admin password. And for some reason, I can...

Re: SMBX 1.4.4 and 1.4.5 Run time error -2147024770

Yeah but saying it is irreversible is wrong It's perhaps a little exaggerated, though it was to point out that it's not an internal conversion but an active rewriting of files. You can't get the original file back once it happens, you can, however, re-convert back to 1.3, though I don't know if any...

Not true, you can use PGE to convert it back to 1.3. If you have any 38A-only features, they get removed in the conversion.
Okay sure, that is possible, but it's awkward, and it's still worth a warning that the game will automatically overwrite the level with its own version.

Re: SMBX 1.4.4 and 1.4.5 Run time error -2147024770

1. While X2 is indeed incompatible with 38A just as it is with 1.3 since X2 has different NPCs, 1.3 can still be played in 38A as long you don't use any of the exclusive stuff that is in 38A. There might be some issues, but nothing beats the Jank Redigit added in OG Smbx. It should be noted that do...

Re: C Libraries

while utilizing an auto-update feature as mentioned allows for a more efficient way of synchronizing newer versions and changes before I feel it's polished enough for release Why not just use some form of version control like git? This is absolutely the sensible option. Automatic updates are not a ...

Re: C Libraries

None of this is a good idea. By making these changes you're not going to be able to do this and also share anything you make with it. The purpose of lockdown.lua is, as the name suggests, to lock down the things LunaLua can load in order to prevent people from building malware in SMBX (which is extr...

Re: Help with loading an image

You never loaded the title image, nor defined camX and camY. You need to use Graphics.loadImage to load the image you want, which will be relative to your level folder unless you also run the path through Misc.resolveFile.

About the reserved mystery box. When I store a starman to the reserve itembox,I can eat the starman when I use it. But when I try to eat a mega mushroom which is stored in the reserve itembox,it just go back to the reserve itembox( just like be collected).... Maybe you can fix it? Mega Mushrooms wi...

This suggests your progress.json file has been corrupted. Delete that file from your episode folder and it should start working.

Re: How i change the foo's smoke color on SMBX2b4?

just edit the foo_wind file, which you can find in : SMBX2 > data > graphics > particles Don't do this. This is the absolute worst option, since it will affect EVERY episode for you, and WON'T affect anyone who plays your level. There are a couple of better ways to do this. The best one is to just ...

Re: SMBX2 Locked Controls Problem

I mean, that's a completely different program and won't run any episodes made for SMBX2 (and may have incompatibilities with episodes made for 1.3).

Aside from that, updating your graphics drivers is a REALLY GOOD IDEA GENERALLY.

Re: Some things seem broken?

SMBX isn't really "installed", so uninstalling it just requires deleting the folder. That said, battle mode won't work unless you have a stage to use with it, and even then it's extremely janky and broken - not due to SMBX2, but simply because it never worked well. There are long term plans to repla...

This can only happen if the hub level has been modified to remove certain NPCs, I believe.

Raocow started posting LP videos of Maglx3 ... so results are already out? But are they visible to the public?
Umm... You can literally download the entire episode so yes. But there's an embargo on discussion of placements beyond what rao has already LPed.

Routine.waitFrames(64) -- wait 1 second
Just as a note, it's much neater to do:

Code: Select all

Routine.wait(1)
For waiting one second.

Re: It didn't update properly

You need to merge the two folders, not replace them. So just copy the patch "data" folder into the SMBX directory. You should get a warning asking you if you want to replace some files, and select "Yes". You definitely should NOT delete your old data folder first.
