Re: 10 Years of SMBX

Damn, ive been into SMBX since 2010 but didnt join these forums until 2015. Crazy that it has been that long already!

Ill be honest until i found these forums I thought SMBX was completely dead, since i knew it was originally taken down by Nintendo and such

Dude, not cool!
Really bro? Im kinda surprised people get offended by just the simple use of that word, especially with how extensively younger people like to use it.

But, if its really taken as significantly offensive here, I'll refrain from using it. Sorry.

Can you make Link's Fairy Sprite bigger in SMBX 1.3?

Hey guys! Bowser here. Ive been working on a project where, in the game's world, there's alot of advanced technology. The Antagonist is alot like Dr. Robotnik in the aspect of utilizing tech, and most of the hostile NPC's you encounter are robotic. Ive been working on making the powerups revolve mor...

Which SMBX version are you using?

Heh, I'm still using 1.3. Thinking about going to 1.4 or 2.0 though. I took a look at 2.0 a while back, seemed like it had a little bit of a learning curve, so i stuck with 1.3, since i know my way around that.

Btw, how good are 2.0 and 1.4.4 (Assuming they're not the same thing)?

Level Gimmicks/Design Aspects

Hey guys! I've been working on my episode off and on for nearly a year and a half, with only a little progress. The reason it's taking so long is because when i go in to build levels, I can never decide how to proceed. Its like I'm getting Writer's Block but with game-building rather than writing. A...

I can add to my list of mastered games now. -Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 4. I participated in a tournament last week at my uni, and lets just say i brought out some rage from the other competitors... I won the tourney and honestly didnt expect to win so easily The only person who can beat me thus fa...

Re: What is the Longest Episode?

1300 Levels? Thats just plain crazy. In fact I see a couple hundred levels as pretty crazy, but possible. Longest Episode I made had 30 levels, with 4 levels in each world except for the last world, which had 6. There were two "finale" levels. Im remastering that episode though, rebuilding it from s...

SMB3 Nostalgic Mini-Mashup

Just a little mini mashup of a couple of my favorite levels from Super Mario Bros. 3, all in one level. Enjoy! Though I largely replicated the original SMB3 levels, I made some slight changes, especially after section 1, to add a little bit of challenge. Its not meant to be very hard though. Bonus p...

Re: What Level Editor/Engine did you use before you found SMBX?

Super Mario Flash. I found SMBX pretty much instantly when I started looking for Mario level editors. My friend got me into Lunar Magic for a while but then I realized how much more difficult and less customizable it is. Yeah, I can understand that. I remember my friend trying to do the same thing ...

Re: What Level Editor/Engine did you use before you found SMBX?

I used SM63 as well. Honestly though, none of them really compare to SMBX... just the sheer versatility of SMBX speaks for itself

What Level Editor/Engine did you use before you found SMBX?

I actually spent a fair amount of time as a kid looking for the perfect "Mario Level Maker". I played various online ones, like Super Mario Flash. Probably the best one i had before SMBX though was Super Mario Bros. Level Master. Had alot of fun with it, but basically stopped using it once i found S...

Re: Childhood fears

I used to be scared of the Castle levels in Super Mario Bros. 3. For some reason the music scared the shit out of me (Im talking the NES version) and plus I was afraid of Lava as well. Not a good combination lol, give a kid who fears lava a dark and musty castle filled with lava and creepy ambient m...

Re: Super Mario Bros. 1X: Revived?!

We should do something similar with Super Mario Bros. 3. I think "SMB3X" would be a fun project for everyone too. Perhaps when I find time I could start a Super Mario Bros. 3X if it doesnt exist already? There are already a ton of SMB3 remakes; just something to think about Id imagine so. But start...

Re: Mountains of Courage

I tried it out, and I can say it was fairly good. It seems you really took your time on this level, and I only found a couple of issues. -I noticed the graphics were a mix of SMB2, 3, World, and maybe even some SMB, and had a darker color scheme. Aesthetically, I thought it was pretty decent. Howeve...

Re: Grain Silo Infiltration

-You bring up a good point about the unstompable enemies. However, it was intended as a gameplay mechanic to add a degree of challenge and to encourage the use of Link's swordplay. Thats why i mentioned it in the post. In the episode this level is a part of, the only enemies that are stompable are w...
