Re: SMB Remix (v1.0 update!)

I just played and got to 5-2 then I leaved and came back and I can enter level 5-1 and level 5-2 so is it working for me, you stopped at wich level and what pipe in world 5 dosent work? I took a break at 6-1. I even made sure to manually quit the game on the pause menu first just in case. Upon retu...

Re: SMB Remix (v1.0 update!)

I'm having a problem with the stage selector. It only seems to save progress up to 5-1; any level beaten afterwards remains inaccessible from it.

Re: Super Mario Flash - SMBX Edition (SMBX Remake)

This is a really nice remaster; probably better than the one I made several years back. The inclusion of The Hard Level is a really nice touch, even without Bart Simpson at the end.
I'm not a fan of the excessive darkness in the underground levels, though.

Re: Super Mario World Adventure

Honestly, this is a really bad episode. There's random enemy spam, cluttered terrain, and no signs of instructive level design at all. The worst part is that afaik it's not even possible to beat. There's a massive pit in Block Highway Act 2 (Night) which is impossible to jump, and there's no flight ...

Re: Naming a scrapyard-themed world

It would be easier to tell what you're going for if you could provide some reference names for other (perhaps imaginary) worlds that follow the same tone you're going for. Well, like I said above, there are two other worlds which will be called Muncher Park and Bone Canyon, as well as several other...

Re: Naming a scrapyard-themed world

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm not sure if any of them will really fit proper (since I'm stupidly picky), but I'll take them into consideration. Also, I do have one idea for a name; Oxide Isle. I feel like it sounds nice, but I'm worried it's too edgy and/or confusing, especially considering it's t...

Naming a scrapyard-themed world

I didn't want to have to make a thread for this, but I'm having a big problem coming up with a name for the scrapyard-themed world of my SMBX project, which is going to be the first world of said project. I have literally been spending weeks and weeks trying to come up with a decent name. Preferably...

Re: Level Naming Conventions

Yeah, fair point. I just don't think giving the levels random names is a good idea since there's no way of having obvious World names that way (they could be seen while warping from one world to another through a pipe, but this means you wouldn't find out what the first world is called until beating...

Re: Level Naming Conventions

So I've decided I want to use a kind of SMW/NSMBU-like naming convention for my project, with each level being the world name and then a number or indicator e.g. Muncher Park 1, Muncher Park 2, Muncher Park Airship, etc. The problem is, I have no idea how to name secret levels, of which I want to ha...

Re: Super Mario Bros. 6

Bugged exit in 5-3 aside, this episode actually has some decent ideas but it's badly held back by the fact that none of the levels have any difficulty curve at all. Every level is as hard from the start as it is at the end, which leads to them feeling really boring. The fact that the later levels te...

Level Naming Conventions

What's the best way to name levels in an episode? Just leave it as numbers ala SMB1? World name and number ala SMW? Or just random funny titles like in Crash Bandicoot or Donkey Kong Country? And as for secret alternate path levels, should they be lettered, or should they just continue from where th...

Re: My First Official Episode! Another Simple Adventure 2!

What am I supposed to do after Torre del Calabozo? E Gadd's portal just sends you to Tubo Multiple and there's seemingly no way to progress further. Doesn't seem like very intuitive game design.

Re: Custom Mario Athletic Theme

Thanks for the feedback. I've decided instead to use the "athletic theme" as a candy overworld theme, since I feel it fits better there. I've tried another attempt at making a proper athletic theme though, this time being a retool of a lousy song I made a few years ago. https://soundcloud.com/user-3...

Custom Mario Athletic Theme

I'm not an expert, but sometimes I like to try making music. Here's my attempt at a custom athletic theme:

Would it sound alright in an SMBX episode or does it need improvements?

Re: Super Mario Hammer

Just finished playing this episode. It was fun in parts but there's a lot of cut-off tiling and the world map is really underdeveloped, and there's a lot of repetition too. Despite the problems, I did enjoy the more classic feel to this episode. I feel like many people try to go over the top with bi...

Re: Luigi Warping Crisis

I'm glad to announce I've finally found a solution to this problem. Apparently, if you don't type the ".lvl" extension after the level warp destination, you'll warp without the star counter being shown at all. I hope this trick becomes more widely known, as I'd imagine it'll probably help a lot of p...

Re: Super Mario Bros. Retro (SMBX2 Update)

I doubt I'll get any response considering how old this topic is, but how did you disable the star counter for the warp at the end of World 8-3? I've been trying to do the same thing for my episode and even while studying it in the level editor I can't figure it out. What's the secret to it?

Re: Luigi Warping Crisis

Only show the warp after the exit has been collected? Nope. While that definitely does solve the potential problem of entering the next level without collecting the goal, there's still the issue of the star counter showing while the player is walking into the warp, which is something I really don't...

Re: Luigi Warping Crisis

My guess is that, since Luigi is slower than the rest, he doesn't move as far offscreen, so perhaps try moving the warp further left. I actually did try that, but it seems like the only way Luigi can warp is if the warp is still onscreen, which is bad because I don't want the stupid star counter sh...

Re: Luigi Warping Crisis

I don't have SMBX2 so I can't record gifs, but this is what my goal setup looks like:

Mario, Peach, Toad and Link all successfully manage to access the warp after collecting the goal, but for some reason Luigi can't.
