Re: Super Mario - Signal Interference (mini-episode)

I love this episode. All levels are beautiful, fun and innovative. And the final boss was very well planned and innovative too.
Completely amazing.

Re: [2.4] Luigi's Fight For The Mushroom Kingdom

I've been thinking about fixing this game's length and difficulty for a good while now and I think I might go through with it. The main question is if anyone would be interested in this. There will be some differences in all the levels but I don't believe there'll be much otherwise which means that...

Re: Outrageous Path (smbx2)

This level seems to be heavily catered towards speedrunning, with animations like a warp at the start, and the springboard emerging from a block being cut short to cut out waiting, as well as there being some red donuts in every donut gate. To support that, the level itself never really puts any ob...

Re: Need help with lua? - LunaLua General Help

Very thanks, now it worked! My error was writing the number of section on the brackets. I have another question, not quite an error. I need to make a code activate when a certain NPC makes contact with the player. It is possible? At the moment I improvised this using player coordinates in relation t...

Re: Need help with lua? - LunaLua General Help

I've done this before but the error continues. What is wrong?
Here is the code:

Code: Select all

local Camera = Camera.get()[player.section]

function SpawnBombs()
	NPC.spawn(133,Camera.x,Camera.y,player.section)
end

function onTick()
	SpawnBombs()
end

Re: Need help with lua? - LunaLua General Help

When using camera values to NPC.spawn coordinates , it shows a error saying "attempt to index upvalue 'camera' (a nil value)". What means it and how to fix?
Means it I am trying to index a function like a table or something?

Re: Need help with lua? - LunaLua General Help

I have a problem when using camera coordinates to NPC spawn. This don't work because need int values. How can I fix this? (I already used camera coordinates to NPC warp and it worked well...)

Re: (SVLC 2016 1st Place, Easy/Medium) Woodfall Breeze (Now with low detail)

I have explained it. Except you didn't. You do realize that a "tool that is used in a different way" is a gimmick, right? Dragon Coins are gimmick since they're offering a sense exploration in the level to find them. Even moving layers are gimmicks. No one has ever said that a level needs an origin...

Re: (SVLC 2016 1st Place, Easy/Medium) Woodfall Breeze (Now with low detail)

I think I used a wrong word to describe it. When I say "gimmick" I am trying to say something innovating and never saw before. I will use a different expression in the next time. I still don't see how it's not a gimmick when it's a basic tool used in a different way as you said. I have explained it...

Re: (SVLC 2016 1st Place, Easy/Medium) Woodfall Breeze (Now with low detail)

I never implied one had to put a ton of "gimmicks" in their level. What matters is that the core idea for the level synergyzes with the level's theme and is executed well enough to give it a personality. You want your levels to stand out and be remarkable for what they are, regardless of what comes...

Re: (SVLC 2016 1st Place, Easy/Medium) Woodfall Breeze (Now with low detail)

Actually, a lot of gimmicks don't means a good and funny level. You can try to make something like a one gimmick per section and you will realize that the completed level isn't so good maybe. Levels can be funny without inovatings gimmicks, but using basic tools with diferents ways. Your level can b...

Re: SVLC 2016

If this is the rule, I agree with the disqualification for Shinbison. Cedrik's impunity isn't a reason to not punish Shinbison. The error in this case was not punish Cedrik. However, I can't find the original post of Shinbison-Kof's old level, so this does confuse me a little. http://www.supermariob...

Re: Save non linear heavy visual levels from dying!

The biggest problem of non-linear levels are the quantity of backtracks.
My CC12 level is non-linear with heavy visual and I got 2nd (my level don't have backtracks).
So non-linear levels without a annoying design still better than linear levels.
