Re: So You Want to Run MaGL X3? Applications due 03/19/2017 11:59pm EST

Too bad that this quote, is false. Horizon is not literal Yeah, I think it 'Beta 4 is on the horizon' actually means 'We're currently working on Beta 4, hopefully it'll be out fairly soon' It means "a fix to one of the biggest stumbling blocks to Beta 4 is nearing completion and I expect it will be...

Re: So You Want to Run MaGL X3? Applications due 03/19/2017 11:59pm EST

I would apply for the part of organization and know-how but I can't apply for the part of making an episode with all the modern features :( Well, it is worthy of note that I didn't make the episode or the hub worlds of MaGL X1 or X2. SAJewers/SnoruntPyro did that for X1 and Willhart did that for X2...

Re: SMBX 2.0 Beta 3

Lua, to my knowledge, is vastly filled with all different functions. I doubt you could be fluent in a week, but I do agree it is better to learn the structure and syntax. Problem is, and again, I haven't seen any good tutorials, because they all go from "hello world" to <insert lua jargon here> wit...

because we don't have those kinds of hooks in lunalua yet to make that possible
Well, we do. But it's easier/better this way imho.

Absolutely! Feel free to do whatever - this is a VERY open contest.

I'm entering as well - so look forward to beating me! :D

This is FANTASTIC. And if you're okay with it, I'd love to add this to 2.0. Obviously you'd be added to the credits as having written this.

Re: SMBX 2.0 Beta 3

This is probably a question that can really easily be answered, but how exactly do I go about testing standalone levels in SMBX 2.0? I kind of want to play with the new blocks (I'm looking at you, TNT Crate). I can't seem to find any documentation and it seems less straight forward than what the or...

Re: Why isn't this open source?

Redigit, the developer of Super Mario Bros. X, has not yet decided to release the source code. The game has been extended upon by the 2.0 dev team, so you should check that out (there's an announcement for the open beta). ALL of the SMBX 2.0 stuff is open sourced. And in many ways it is better than...

Re: SMBX 2.0 Beta 3

Patience young Padawan. They can't do everything at once Who? Actually, that isn't important. Anyway, LunaLUA can accomplish pretty much anything. I still need experience, but It is superior to events. even everything i just said? Replicating the 38A NPCs is easy. It's one reason 2.0 plans to suppo...

Re: SMBX 2.0 Beta 3

The only difference between your mentality and theirs is that you learned Lua first, whereas they learned SMBX Layers and Events first. I don't intend to start an argument; I just wanted to give you an insight toward how people think since you seemed so baffled as to why people don't want to use Lu...

Re: SMBX 2.0 Beta 3

I'm not into SMBX creating anymore, so please trust me when I say that I'm not meaning to be selfish by saying this. However... If anyone else has played a lot of Super Mario World hacks, then they too have probably noticed that since ASM is really hard to learn, people tend to reuse the same custo...

Re: SMBX 2.0 Beta 3

I think it's a little odd that the loading screen in the hardcoded gfx folder is actually different from 1.3.0.1, yet the actual loading screen is still the one from 1.3.0.1! Is that some kind of bug or what? Remember the game is still in development, so it may or may not be. The reason is that the...

Re: New SMBX 2.0 launcher concept

Hmm... I generally like some of the elements of this, but some simply aren't really doable (or wanted, frankly) on qtwebkit. Bookmarks, showing the url bar, etc. just aren't going to happen. I think I'll be stealing some of these ideas though - they're really quite smart. Particularly love what you ...
