Re: Terminals and the command line

I still use a graphical file explorer to just right click in a directory and open a terminal from that location with longer paths. I suppose there's more elegant solutions to that, but it's what I do. But writing scripts to automate things is a good idea in general.

Terminals and the command line

So I brought up a general feeling of ambivalence to terminals and terminal applications in codehaus a few days ago and wanted to make a thread for it. Stuff like accessibility and messing up important files was mentioned as barriers for use, but for people where it's purely preference; an ambivalenc...

Re: COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

Discord would not be better. And this isn't about price or features either. The unaddressed problem here is schools and businesses flocking to garbage technology and not being flexible enough to actually adapt. The classroom can't be replaced by technology, but learning isn't constrained to the clas...

Re: What browser are you using

Bumping this because of some bad news: https://www.ghacks.net/2020/09/20/umatrix-development-has-ended/ I've been able to get rid of all my extensions except uBO and uMatrix for a while, and I kept uMatrix because of the UI being better imo compared to uBO hard mode. I'm hoping uBO has a UI update t...

Re: Forum Updates

Here's a tip: this forum has ATOM feeds enabled. ATOM works basically the same as RSS. You can keep up to date by adding forum feeds to your RSS reader. To do this put "feed.php" at the end of the forum URL. Here are some options for that: https://www.supermariobrosx.org/forums/feed.php?mode=news Vi...

I just got the platinum a little while ago too and need to get the grounded and permadeath trophies.

Re: Dedicated forum for events and announcements?

Gonna change my mind on this because the way ATOM feeds work this set up would be very convenient for automated updates on stuff.

Re: The pipes and site changes

Alright I let Quill know about this, so sometime soon the other pages should redirect here and the pipes should be gone. Right now for the home page I think the SMBX2 trailer + the blog RSS + an ATOM feed for the newsletter would be sufficient for its return with new pipe pages. I'd like to do a bit...

The pipes and site changes

Alright so I'm making this thread for some final input on site changes. The way I see it is the SMBX World + GFX + Links are redundant because they just link back to the forums, and the wiki is dead and will stay dead. We don't really need the pipes, and we might as well make the forums the main and...

The "Storm Serge" appears to have a predicted reach into Arkansas as well. (Suggested I am reading the info correctly.) https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/716924705499775036/748338376528363672/unknown.png That's a power outage potential graphic. Re: Dedicated forum for events and announcements?

I'm not opposed to this. I've considered it before too since other forums do it, but at the same time there's not much reason to have it here since they do come pretty slowly.

Re: COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

Here's some recent information from the CDC on the mental health effects during the pandemic: https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/69/wr/pdfs/mm6932a1-H.pdf 25% of 18-24 year olds report serious consideration of suicide. The lock downs and economic down turns have exacerbated all this on top of the actu...

Re: Egg ranks (and possible rank toggling)

It's a joke rank. I guess it's an inside joke because nobody will ever reach it, and it's not that funny so it's hardly a joke at all. The decision to put it there is an enigma. Also since Enjl is indeed pretty close to 9000 and the egg rank is hiding the 8000 rank, I think it's okay to show the 800...
