Re: Backup Levels

Please download SMBX from http://www.codehaus.moe/

The version on the SMBX forums website is 1.3, which is NOT the most recent version.

Re: Does anyone still use SMBX 1.3.0.1?

SMBX2 is the latest version of SMBX, and projects made in 1.3 are compatible with it.

SMBX38A is a separate program that looks somewhat similar to SMBX, and has some physics and mechanical differences with 1.3, meaning it's not fully compatible.

Re: how to make a map playable

Maybe this will help:

You right click on the blank space in the folder, select "New" from the options, and then hit "Folder". This method of creating folders has existed as far back as Windows 95.

Re: Should clips be removed from SMBX?

Feel like I should clarify some stuff here: 1) If clips were to be removed, this would absolutely be done in a way that will not break older levels, even those relying on clips. Either an option would be given in the editor, or simply newer files would disable clips. "It would break levels" is not a...

Re: How do I setup customization of NPCs, Blocks & BGOs?

As has been said, .ini files only affect how the block appears in the editor. In order to change its in-game behaviour, you need to add:

Code: Select all

Block.config[BLOCKID].bumpable = true
to your levels luna.lua file.

There's plenty of "extra good stuff" you can use without writing any Lua at all.

Re: apparently these were suppose to be in smbx

These are perfectly possible to add, but they won't be added by default. At best they'd be optional extras level creators could enable, but only if someone implements them and shows them to produce fun gameplay. The reason for this, as has been stated, is that many levels and episodes already exist ...

Re: Music.ini won't work.

You're using a .mp3 file, not a .ini file. Um. This is completely bogus. .ini is a configuration file, not a music format. You can't make music files into .inis, that doesn't even make sense. The music.ini file is the one that contains a list of music such as in that screenshot. As for the original...

Re: Where's the Boo Snake's trail graphic? (PAL Beta)

Considering the npc-298e file didn't exist in Beta 3, you seem to already have a more recent build, so replacing the sprite should be no problem for you. This isn't quite true. This NPC has a bug in the PAL release that makes them impossible to use sprite replacements with. This has been fixed on t...

Just place them directly in your episode folder next to your level files.

I find it neutral but okay.
Enjl means "bad" as in "badly programmed". It's very old and was made long before we had any real standards or systems for custom NPCs and such. It's not surprising that its ad-hoc approach no longer works, with how much has changed in the script system.

Don't do this. This just ensures your custom graphics will never work for anyone but you, if it doesn't totally wreck your installation.

Also I strongly suggest you upgrade to SMBX2, as it looks like you're using SMBX 1.3 here.

About SMBX2 is it possible to convert 1.4.5 SMBX levels and worlds to SMBX2?
Sort of. You can load them into PGE and save them as lvlx files, but you will have to remove all the 38A elements from them.

Re: SMBX2 PAL Release - Feedback, Questions and Bugs here!

Currently, lvlx files will not show up in Mario Challenge. To fix that, we need Wohl to finish giving us access to the file loader from the Lua side.

Oh, okay. Yeah that's my oversight 😅. Thanks for the list thougth. I'd never thougth that there are so many colors and it explains why purple was so bright when I tried it. These are just the built in colours. You can make your own using: Color(R, G, B) With R,G, and B being values between 0 and 1....

It didn't work. I tried out lightcolor= yellow, lightcolor = color.yellow, color = yellow, blockcolor = yellow. I also couldn't find anythink in the Darkness Lua General File which leds to block color, only the NPCs Defaults. Seems like you didn't try anything that actually fits the format I posted...

Is it possible to change the color of already lighting things like Lava, when using Darkness?
Should be possible using Block.config.

Block.config[id].lightcolor = Color.white

for example.

Second, I can't see these edits actually working when I save the file. Re: Need help with lua? - LunaLua General Help

Too many "end"s. The "end" keyword is used to close off a block. You need to close off every time you use the keywords "function", "then", or "do". In this case, you're opening a block using "function", then opening another block using the for loop. You don't want to close off the onDraw definition ...
