Re: backtobasics

You know, if you all want to prove that this thing is actually out of control and you're not just trying to pick a fight, you could put your money where your mouths are and provide examples of unprompted Marioposting in other threads that haven't already been addressed by the staff. Go to your quick...

Re: backtobasics

What a surprise, the faker with the audacity to impersonate John has almost exclusively posted about Lua Lua. And I would've gotten away with it too if it weren't for you meddling Marioheads! Nyeh-heh-heh-heh! *flees on an old-timey unicycle, is promptly crushed by a lua error message with an ascii...

Re: backtobasics

It wasn't the real JohnNintendo, it was a faker trying to be funny Yes and no. I was having a bit of fun and trying to play along, but I was also curious to see if I could do something to reduce the arguing as well as push this whole thing in a different direction. I honestly didn't have anything p...

Re: SMBX 2.0 Open Beta

From what I've gathered we're waiting on the addition of an onBonk event to lunalua and/or some other changes to the lunalua core to help with detecting when some new blocks have been hit and the source/type of the collision. This will allow us to clean up some lingering issues with the switch block...

Re: SMBX 2.0 POLL - Potenial change to the colour of Link and Luigi character blocks

Actually, the more-or-less final designs we ended up going with can be seen in this video Horikawa published about a week ago.

Deactivated switchable color blocks also display the ! in them now.

Re: What Are You Working On Now?

I ended up adding a cheat console and the SMW secret exit lock animation to 2.0. I'd post gifs or record videos but I'm currently lacking a computer capable of decent screen capture.

Re: SMBX 2.0 Open Beta

Does this actually replace a current power-up, use power-up slot #8, or does it do kind of what I did with the Blue Shell power-up and work in sync with another one? As of now it replaces Big Mario. Which is why it won't be in the upcoming beta :P. Until we figure out a way around that, not much po...

Re: SMBX 2.0 POLL - Potenial change to the colour of Link and Luigi character blocks

Changing my vote to "yes but with a different change" because while I like the new colors, I figured we could go further in differentiating them. I decided to do mockups of what I was going to suggest and, well... http://i.imgur.com/hFXqPpR.png I may have overdone it a bit. Credit to salmonbandit fo...

Re: What Are You Working On Now?

Back to lua after a bit of a slump, finally finished up proportional fonts, tailed word bubbles and NPC tracking in textblox. https://media.giphy.com/media/xT8qBk7kJYvjXc3GfK/giphy.gif Currently auto-tracking and positioning only works through lua-generated Text Blocks, but I'm gonna see if I can ge...

Re: Helpful/Cool LunaLua Codes Thread

To simplify setting up default values for named arguments, I whipped up a quick little function that goes through an array and grabs the first non-nil value. local function defaultChain (args) local returnval i = 1; while i <= #args do if args[i] ~= nil then returnval = args[i] break; else i = i+1 e...

Re: npcParse.lua (Standardized NPC message parsing!)

pNPC is an API that lets you grab persistent references to NPCs between frames and store additional data for those NPCs, like custom health or timers. http://wohlsoft.ru/pgewiki/Pnpc.lua All you need to do is add the script to LuaScriptsLib (assuming you don't already have it, I think it's packaged ...

Re: LunaLua Offical Thread - SMBX Usermod Framework

Hey everyone! Creator of cinematX, textblox, paralX and other such infamous ambitious lua libraries here with a bit of a PSA about a problem that's recently come to my attention: selfish message parsing. Back when cinematX was in its' early stages I decided to try and utilize npcs' message text to a...
