Re: The Super, Snazzy, & Sick Sixth Screenshot Thread

@Meta: The overall atmosphere here is fantastic, and it seems really fun to play, too. Really loving that castle level!

@Squishy Rex: Always nice to see some well-made boss battles. Neat work!

Re: Lowser's Conquest - world 5 boo house done

The boos might be a bit too cartoony, but other than that super neat level. This is one of the projects I'm really looking forward to playing - very refreshing to see completely original graphics and gimmicks, as most SMBX episodes might stick a bit too close to the same style.

Re: 2 Player Mode Design Wise Discussion

Would be interesting to see levels actually based on two-player mode, which can only be cleared by using it. Branching paths for player 1 and player 2, where, for example, P1's path is blocked by brown blocks and P2 has to find a P-Switch.

Re: The Super, Snazzy, & Sick Sixth Screenshot Thread

@Choco: Why not just make a different block you're not using invisible? Well, that could also work I guess but it feels unnecessary :p

Anyway, looks pretty great! Really liking the graphics used here. They have a nice style and fit well together, except maybe that background.

I agree with FireLink - it does look fine like this, but darkening the rest a bit would be nice. Also, this is not "complaining" but simply constructive criticism. I'd say this was a bit unnecessary.

I'd suggest working a bit more on the character drawings but it looks great.

Re: Have you ever been a staff member on another SMBX forum?

Was a level judge here for a while, and was a The Invasion 3 project moderator as well at some random SMBX forum. Other than that, not much. I'm usually not very active at SMBX forums so it's as I expected I guess :p

Re: The Super, Snazzy, & Sick Sixth Screenshot Thread

People need to start commenting more on other screens :/ @RudeGuy: Seems interesting so far! The design seems varied enough, and nothing wrong with the aesthetic as well. @Martijn: Neat work! It seems a bit empty inside the castle walls but it's not bad. @Eternity: worst screen ever 0/10 @h2643: Not...

Re: Perfect coin placement?

There's no "perfect coin placement", and coin placement shouldn't even be important in first place. As long a you don't spam them too much anything is fine.

Re: Screenshot Thread Formula Five

Pretty neat, but I think I prefer the original one. Still seems to be very well done, though, but I don't really like the grainy style this one uses. The red crystal could also be slightly brighter, as the very dark colors don't look very nice with the white.

Did you even read the rest of his post?
And it does not necessarily use the tileset with lava.
Plus, I think he mentioned this being a test level to show the tileset on his first post.

Re: Screenshot Thread Formula Five

Nice, but not much we can comment on. I assume this is has some sort of gimmick, and is not just a generic SMB1 level?

The deadline for MaGL is march 7th. Judging/results will take longer, but I don't think we need to consider that.

Seems fine to me. Design is a bit generic but it wouldn't be bad for a first level.

Re: Screenshot Thread Formula Five

Except it's used well through the level, actually. Limiting the number of BGOs was a nice idea and works well with the simple style - you don't need to use every single thing given on the tileset, usually.

Re: SMW Miniature Smashing Pillar

I prefer SilverDeoxys's version. It looks more similar to the original one and the shading/textures on Dragonmaster's seems a bit weird - the transition feels too sudden.

Re: Screenshot Thread Formula Five

AirShip: I think I prefer the cleaner style of Nickname's tileset, this one might be a bit too grainy. RudeGuy: Not bad, but I'm not a fan of the black sky color and the red clouds, they don't fit well with the rest of the BG. You might try either darkening the BG hills a bit or brightening the clou...

Re: Sunset Fields

Also reviewing it. Review - Sunset Fields This might need some work. It had some potential design-wise, but the whole silhouette gimmick kinda ruined it. While it has some decent design, for the most part the level is very confusing, due to some of the decorations and the sizables. There were some s...
