How do I load a level with custom graphics on the editor?

Postby SuperErikNation » Sat Jan 16, 2016 10:31 am

Hey! I have a little problem here.
So, I kind of know the editor pretty well right now but I can't adjust to the sight of custom graphics and all that messy mess. I don't know how to run a level which has custom graphics on the editor for me to play. This level didn't came with any map, so I guess I cannot upload it to the /worlds folder and play it from SMBX itself. Do I have to create a map for the level so I can play it on SMBX or can I somehow load the level from the editor and play it from there with the custom graphics staying?

edit: woah i said game too much. but now you can't see it because i edited this. k bye

Was the .lvl data located in the folder with the gfx? If so, just put it into the upper folder, same goes for the custom music.

OK so the folder was like this. It had the .lvl data, lots of GFX, a custom music or two and some .txt that looked like this:
Spoiler: show
effect-146.txt wrote:width=32
height=30
gfxwidth=32
gfxheight=30
frames=1
framestyle=1
npc-285.txt wrote:width=48
height=48
gfxwidth=48
gfxheight=48
framestyle=0
frames=2
noiceball=0
So you say I have to do what?

Remove music and the actual level from this folder and put them in the upper one. I dunno where the level is located, but I have a "custom level" folder inside my "worlds" folder. worlds> custom level> level's folder, .lvl, .mp3> inside level's folder. We need a "folder" counter...

Press F5 while in the level editor to test levels. Any custom graphics that you can see while editing the level should be there, and if there's graphics that don't show up in the level at all (during editing or testing) then they're not in the right place. Custom graphics need to either be in the same folder as your level (.lvl file) or in a folder with the exact same name as your level (e.g. "level1.lvl" should have a folder called "level1" that is in the same place as the level).

That worked allright, Joey. Thanks!

By the way, everything was in the same folder.
