BBCode issue

Postby Electriking » Mon May 22, 2017 5:25 pm

So when I use those BBCodes when breaking 2 or more lines

like

this

And I use one of the BBCode tabs when making/formatting posts, the BBCode appears only on the first line break (and sometimes on the line where the text ended before the line breaks), rather than where I intend to have further below.

Intended example

Code: Select all

Text

[b]Bold Text[/b]
What actually happens

Code: Select all

Text[b][/b]

[Bold Text should be here]
Yes I had this issue making this post, and really it is starting to take the piss. Is there a way to fix this?

I'm not sure what you're trying to do. Do you mean when you click the bold BBcode button, it inserts the two tags to the left of the text rather than around the text you wanted? Generally, you have to highlight the text that you want the BBCode tags to be inserted around.

When you click the bold button it inserts the BBCode where the insertion point is (the blinking vertical bar), it will not appear on any other line. Highlighting the text you want to bold or clicking on the line where you want to write bold text is the only way to place the bold code where you want it.

Additionally, if you don't have a completed BBCode argument, it will look weird.

Code: Select all

[b]So if you end up doing something like this.[b][/b]
It will look like this.
I used to be 8bitmushroom but not anymore.

I try to do that but the tags still appear after the previous text before I break the lines. I will do a GIF of what happens if you need it.

Yeah, you haven't highlighted anything. You have to highlight with your cursor the text you want the BBCode to go around.

Unless you mean that the inserted tags appeared a line above where your cursor was - not sure there's a quick fix for that.

It happens when I want insert the BBCode and then type it in the tags, and it has only started happening recently.

So the problem is that you create two new lines but when you click the BBCode button it inserts it a line above where you wanted? I just tried it myself and couldn't replicate the issue. As a quick fix on your end I would just add 1 more line than you need. Could be your browser but I'm not sure. I'm using Firefox.

I have always been using Chrome, and as I said a few months ago this would have not been happening, but now it is and it is getting annoying.

Try on a different browser and see if the issue persists.

Seems like Firefox has solved this for now.
