Questions I have about the editor...

Postby Deppt » Wed Oct 17, 2018 5:22 pm

1. How to make red coins (like in super Mario maker)
2. Is there a way to make a life counter, like in the 3D games?
3. Can I make Mario constantly big?
4. How do custom graphics work?
5. I downloaded and installed the game, but where's the folder with the stuff?

I will probably have more, but here's some
1. Use layers and events. There's a guide you should check out regarding them.
http://www.supermariobrosx.org/forums/v ... 828dadc266
2. 3 of the 5 characters have a life counter. You can use Toad for very Mario-like gameplay with a HP system. There are other ways to get one, but it involves a lot of lua coding experience.
3. Here's a code snippit which makes this happen if you're using SMBX2:

Code: Select all

function onTickEnd()
	if player.powerup ~= 2 and player:mem(0x122, FIELD_WORD) == 0 then
		player.powerup = 2
	end
end
Make a file called lunadll.lua and drop it into the custom assets folder of your level (described in the guide above).
4. Refer to the guide linked above.

I'm using 1.3... How do I do it there, or how do I get SMBX 2?

Global Threads..?
Also, how do you make items move like their on tracks in super mario maker? And big enemies, too (A goomba 4 times its size, for example)

Sorry for lots of questions, I'm a noob and not a very smart one

global announcements, the ones with P-switches, you see them at the top of every forum page

layers and events, you can move them to the left / right and upwards / downwards; or you can also have them following the player

you should read this, if you don't understand immediately you should watch some youtube videos, and once you get SMBX2 and make levels with it, you should also read this.

Still using the legacy editor? Get SMBX2 and PGE, it will improve your experience significantly. Here's why.

Where do I get SMBX 2? Sounds alot better, and what's PGE? Also also, could I use my SMBX levels on it (SMBX 2)?

there's a thread that's called "SMBX2 Beta 3". Follow the link. Extract the zip using e.g. 7zip. PGE is the level editor that's directly included in it. (and yeah it is miles better). And there is backwards compability with 1.3.0.1 levels, which is also important ofc
