I have nothing that consists of the worst for me but I do remember that when I had my Win 8 PC, after 2 months of use it apparently crashes more frequently for no reason... but even after several repairs I don't consider that to be the worst for me. I use Win 7 and I'm happy with it... too bad we have to switch it in the future someday.

Mac is also good for programming as well. I can't account for first party resources, but many of the resources I use on Linux are also avaliable for Mac with similar performance. You could also add server use under Linux as well, but I don't think many people think about that.

Slowly but steadily, Linux is starting to creep over other sectors of computing outside of programming. Word processers and spreadsheet editors are catching up with their compatibility standards to Office, and will work in most situations. Steam is porting more and more of its games over to SteamOS, which means it runs on any distribution of Linux as long as steam is in its repositories. The Linux port of Bitwig marks the first great DAW on the platform, although there are plenty of music plugins as well. Krita continues to flourish, and Inkscape, Pinta, and MyPaint exist as well. Blender, while not easily picked up, is great at everything it does. Shotcut works pretty well as a video editor, and it was the one my mom settled on after finding out Windows 10 doesn't come with a complementary video editor.

Perhaps the biggest roadblock right now is that people are comfortable with particular products from popular brands, like Adobe. But as it stands, Linux has tons of options avaliable, enough that many people consider it satisfactory to run windows in dual boot or VM for the few products they absolutely need to have.

Of the ones people actually know about, Windows. It's really not that bad though; and it's currently the only logical choice if you're a gamer.

I hate Windows ME! One of my school computers had it and it sucks ass! It's so unstable and it crashes all the time!

Also, Windows 10 sucks too! Why should the people who bought Windows 10 have to see a bunch of ads for shit they don't even care about like seriously, Candy Crush, like who the fuck cares, I use my computer to play games, not to play fucking mobile games that I can play on a fucking mobile device!

Sorry for that lol

I have used Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 10, Windows 8 (but too few) and Linux 3.1. I would say the worst of them (even it's not TOO bad) is Windows 10 because is incompatible with some good things and it's not very powerful for me. Windows XP is very old so it's outdated with things like software, ect, although it's very good technically

The best ones for me (of what I've mentioned) are Windows 7 and Linux. They have very much pontential imo.

Because the shutting down sound is top priority, it is much more important, I repeat, MUCH MORE IMPORTANT, than the compatibility, performance, stability, and other completely irrelevant things, am I right?

Now, I already said it, and I will repeat that I personally had the worst experience with Windows 8. The system is buggy, the interface is downright terrible, and the performance sucks. I have no idea of how they went from Windows 7 to that piece of garbage.

Still using the legacy editor? Get SMBX2 and PGE, it will improve your experience significantly. Here's why. And remember, Yoshis are tools to be used and discarded.

People saying Windows XP is the worst just because of the sound effects? Ok.

I got affected by some 100% disk usage bug and none of the fixes work. Didn't happen before on Windows 7, and doesn't happen on Linux Mint. Support has been pretty garbage for Win10. It also uses almost 2GB of RAM on idle so if you open a web browser you basically can't multi-task on a lower end computer. It's not great.

Windows 7 was the peak Windows experience.

And that update that deleted every file on some PCs was definitely less than good.

Windows XP was good but, such as FireyPaperMario, the shutting down sound scared me a lot as well... The fact that everything turns gray slowly when the shutting down/logging out menu pops up also gave me chills

Also, as I said, Linux 3.1 (at least that's the verson I think I use, I'm not so sure) is decent but sometimes becomes tedious and a bit complicated for some things.

Linux is the kernel, what's the distribution you use?

What do you mean by distribution?

Sorry I don't know that much of operating systems
