-JUMP: some really crazy but super fun levels, too bad i suck at them marios though (couldn't complete it)
-VLDC8: biased because i made a level (but seriously it's pretty great, and world x is cool (biased again))
-The Second Reality Project Reloaded/2: some of the most fun levels i have ever played

can't think of anything else right now, which is weird because I have played a lot (like, a lot of hacks)
aka Aeon.

I have no idea why people like Brutal Mario as it was just unfinished mess with badly designed levels. The only "interesting" thing there are ASM coded bosses imo, as at the time they were revolutionary.

Anyway my list would be: TSRPR & TSRP2R, VLDC7 & VLDC8, Banzai Mario World, Bowser Rampages Again, Super Demo World: The Legend Continues, and Mario's Treasure Hunt. Yes, I play a lot of SMW hacks =)

I forgot one of my favorite hacks! The demo of Super Mushroom Planet! It's a pity that this hack was never finished.

There's also the variety of levels and songs, ridiculously beautiful overworld, unique ASM mechanics, and overall a general grand feel. Carol's remaking it now too. So It isn't gonna be so sloppy anymore.

* TSRP Reloaded - Yes, it was a redux, but it was a huge improvement over the original (though I think that was made in 2004, so the resources might not have been available yet).
* とっても YEAH!! - Hard, but tries to help you out. And it was pretty creative.
* A Super Mario Thing - Also very creative.
* Drama Mystery - A unique experience. I do have to feel for the poor Koopa.
* The VIP games (when the 2chan graphics are applied) - I guess it improved on the early versions of Brutal Mario?

An honorable mention to Cool or Cruel. Caught my interest with the use of graphics and music, but nearly impossible to play.

The Crater - A different experience from your usual SMW hacks. I would argue that it is the favorite hack of mine. I also like the other works the two authors of the Devious Four Chronicles put forth to the Internet.

I do like the TSRPR series and Super Mario Omega for well-crafted levels. Nearly everything else misses for me in one way or another.

You know, as much as I like the story, I think the Devious Four Chronicles could do better outside of SMW. The games have good graphics, but the difficulty and bugs are major problems for the games. I really want someone at MFGG to be able to do something about this. If I hadn't found out about Scorpion and Hunter, I would not have been lead up to SMBX.

I definitely like the TSRP hacks, those are classics. The VIP series is also good shit; it's interesting to see a collab hack made by people totally unaffiliated with SMW Central, kind of like the Romhacking.net SMBX episodes for us I guess. A Super Mario Thing is also great for the same reason.

I see, there are some, who play Kaizo hacks.
I like kaizo hacks, because you can learn to play without savestates.
After 3 months, I can do Level 1,2 and ,3 in Kaizo 1 without savestates eith only 3 or 4 fails.

I actually agree with you but only outside as in, using a new engine while keeping the same basic genre of it being a platformer by heart. The difficulty I don't really agree with you as I recall steps having been made to make the whole series easier (ex: Zelda-like health path, having segments that require precision jumping easier, more health (blocks containing Mushrooms) in places where its stingy and midwaypoints on places where its needed). I'm an MFGGer and I can at least negotiate with the authors on this.

I like to play Super Mario World Hacks, like traditional, puzzle, adventure, gimmick, transformation and kaizo.

Here are the favorite hacks:

Classic Mario World 2: The Great Alliance

This hack contains vanilla, ExGFX, ASM, custom sprites, custom musics. The hack has 120 exits to play a lot.

JUMP (Janked Up Mario Party)

The hack looks like a non-kaizo, but it is extremely difficult. The collab belongs to worldpeace and JUMP team in SMW Central and Talkhaus.

The Treasure Hunt

An adventure full of treasures, the graphics look awesome! I love the most gorgeous graphics!

Mario's 100s Challenge

An adventure full in 100 seconds! The graphics SMB3 and SMAS are very good. The hack contains HDMA, ASM, custom music and more! The hack has 88 exits, is extremely challenge!

The Second Reality Project 2 Reloaded: Zycloboo's Challenge

The hack looks very amazing. The graphics are extremely impressive! The hack has 112 exits to play a lot of adventure!
