Do you think Doki Doki Panic would have been successful outside of japan

Postby Artemis008 » Sun Apr 02, 2017 3:54 pm

Yeah yeah, we all know SMB2 is an improved version of Doki Doki Panic. I want to know, do you guys think if Doki Doki Panic was released outside of Japan it would have been as successful as SMB2 was? Do you think it would have garnered a sequel? I think SMB3 would have been a much different game, and it would have most likely gotten a save system or at least a password system. I also believe it would have sold fine since it was a first party Nintendo title and it would have massively overshadowed SMB: TLL in terms of advancement.

Well you see luigi, when a paisano puts his spaghetti noodle in a mamma mia’s ravioli, a little bambino covered in prosciutto comes out about nine months later -Mario

I believe in Mario as my lord and Savior, if you do, put this image in your signature.

I have one more project to complete and then I'm done with it all.

If I disappear it means I'm gone for good. Don't bother looking for me.

I really don't think Doki Doki Panic wouldn't be successful at all, just because the characters don't look familiar and don't resemble Mario, Luigi, Toad, or Peach at all.

I think SMB2 was successful because it was Mario, which was already successful. Doki Doki Panic could have had any level of success outside Japan.

They could downgrade the sound and music and put on a cartridge ala Zelda II.

Of course not. It wasn't even successful within Japan; that's why Super Mario USA was released. It was never meant to be successful, either; it was just a promotional tie-in for an event.

Exactly.
Doki Doki Panic Was only succesful in japan because it was being made for an event that only happens in japan.
Outside of japan, the game would be so random.
