Castlevania series + Bloodstained

Postby ShadowStarX » Thu Apr 30, 2015 12:34 pm

Talk about Castlevania games and the two Bloodstained titles here.

My favorite Castlevania game is Symphony of the night but of course, this game can't be flawless like other good games. The biggest flaw is the boss fight difficulties. If you know a trick, you can break them easily. But if you don't "cheat" Galamoth and Beelzebub kick your ass easily, but the Minotaur-Werewolf duo can be deadly too.
I remember I was having trouble with Galamoth when I fought him the first time and didn't know about the Beryl circlet, the Crissaegrim or the Shield Rod+Alucard Shield combo. And I think I've died 20 times. Beelzebub is still hard for me, unlike the Minotaur-Werewolf duo and Galamoth. (Beelzebub can't be abused unlike the other 2 fights)
Some tips/tricks about these bosses:
Werewolf & Minotaur:
semi-trick, semi-tip: have holy water or lightning stone as secondary weapon and kill one of those creatures with them. (Holy water is better) After that, you won't have much problem with the second creature.
Beelzebub:
tip: Don't cut down his legs and arms. Beelzebub attacks you by sending mutant flies and those are really big and fast. If you cut down his legs and/or arms, he will send more and more flies than before. (at first he sends 2 at once, but if you don't watch out he sends an army of flies)
Galamoth:
tip: One of his attacks can be dodged just by going under his legs by using the mist form. So if it's possible, don't use the mist except when he does that attack. If you run out of mist, you're pretty much dead.
tricks: those are game-breaking tricks, (boss-breaking, to be exact) so I don't tell them

But seriously, I cannot even play the new games. THEY ARE TERRIBLE compared to the originals. I can't compare them to a metroid experience, as metroid actually knows how to make a good and interesting world to discover and explore. The originals had the spirit (HAHA PUNS) of pure platforming rage. The music: fantastic and fitting for each stage. The gameplay: besides fearing the horrible jump arc, the gameplay is tight and responsive. The game is so hard, making the littlest achievement opens the floodgates of happiness.

I placed 8th in CC11, and I

Super Castlevania IV is the only game in the series that I've played thus far. I like it a lot and I'm thinking about picking up Symphony of the Night sometime.

I've never played half of the castlevania games. Here are the ones I played:
Castlevania
Castlevania III: Dracula's curse
Super Castlevania IV
Symhpony of the night (favorite)
Aria of sorrow
Dracula X Chronicles (psp remake of rondo of blood with slightly better controls and lot better graphics)

So yesterday I beat the normal mode of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night with 98.2% map completion.

I'd say that for most of the part, it was a better game than Symphony of the Night but there were some moments which were quite obnoxious, to say the least.
I'm going to list the things which really bothered me:
Obnoxious Moments: show
1) The way you learn to swim
2) The location of the spike-immunity armor
3) The tediousness of navigating in the penultimate area

I've only played Castlevania 1, 2 and 4. I hope Symphony of the Night comes to the Switch eventually.

The only memory I had from Castlevania, was back in my high school years, and I remember playing a random Castlevania fan game during class....

You should try Castlevania IV or Symphony of the Night if you ever want to get into them. Those are two very solid games.

Okay, but I might have to go on either Amazon or eBay if I wanna track down Super Castlevania IV and play it...

Yeah, but I rather get buy a used cartridge of Super CV IV instead of paying a scalped price for a SNES mini online!

The Castlevania games that I played were Catlevania IV, Castlevania Rondo Of Blood and Castlevania III
My first was Castlevania IV, At the first times I played that game, it was hard for me, but with the time, I played that more and more and then it became very easy to me and I was master at this game (without the final level, that with very hard bosses..) but still I even finished that game some times.
And I very loved Castlevania Rondo Of Blood, I liked the charcters (Richter and Maria Renard) and I liked the intro and that there were some other cutsceens.
Castlevania III was nice too, very nostalgic.
