CTGP Revolution is a mod for Mario Kart Wii by MrBean3500vr and Chadderz that adds over 200 new tracks by various authors, both remade from previous games as well as original, online play even after the WFC shutdown, a custom Wii channel, the ability to freely alter the game's music and character models, an anti-cheat protection and even a new game mode, Countdown Mode!

Also, disclaimer, while this is completely legal,


Download!

What you need:
  • A working Mario Kart Wii disc
  • A Wii/Wii U
  • An SD card with 768 MB or more
How to install it:

If you already have Riivolution or the Homebrew Channel installed:
  • Download the file and extract it to the root of your SD card
  • Launch Riivolution/the HBC
  • Select CTGP-R and launch it
Afterwards, you can choose to install the CTGP-R channel.

If you don't have your Wii/Wii U hacked yet:
  • Copy an exploit onto your SD card (list of exploits later)
  • Run it
Afterwards, you can choose to install the CTGP-R channel.

List of exploits by Wii/Wii U version:

Wii U:

All Wii U exploits rely on you owning a certain game. You can find a list of them + Downloads and Tutorials for each of them here.

Wii version 4.3:

You have to use LetterBomb, see here for more information. You need your Wii's MAC adress which you should be able to find under settings.

Wii version 3.2-4.2:

Use BannerBomb, see here for more information and a detailed tutorial.

Wii version 3.1 or earlier:

No stable exploits exist, please update your Wii to a newer version.

Wiimmfi is a Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection replacement server made by Wiimm. Most Mario Kart Wii Mod Packs like CTGP-R already use it and in a lot of cases you can play regular Mario Kart Wii Worldwides on them as well. However, if you want to use Wiimmfi without any additional Mod Packs, you can download the Wiimmfi patcher here.
Some games that used to support Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, like Mario Strikers Charged, also can be played online via Wiimmfi. To do that, download this. However, keep in mind that you might have trouble finding players if you don't directly ask others to join.

I was wondering when someone was going to do this, and it never ceases to amaze me. That's awesome, and I wish I could try it out. Playing online even after WFC shutdown? Don't you think Nintendo would figure it out and do something about it, or do they use their own server to play on?

From what I've seen so far Nintendo didn't do anything against it, they're usually fine with stuff like that as long ad you don't make money off it or hinder other player's experience.

Yeah, that's true. Considering there are thousands of level editors and things that they dont do anything about. However if this was made and they don't care, then why wouldnt they just leave the WFC on, instead of taking it off? Regardless, I think it's cool that they did. Makes me feel more badass if I would play it online when I'm actually not supposed to.

Hmm, I've considered downloading Mario Kart Wii mods before but I've never gotten around to it. I also kind of lost interest after Nintendo WFC was shut down; online was definitely the main draw of MKW in particular to me, I pretty much played Double Dash otherwise.

If this reimplements online on custom servers though I might have to give it a shot. Sounds badass.
