Hammer Suit Power Up - Overpowered?

Talking about a specific Power Up in SMBX which is called the Hammer Suit. For sure that one power up you can basically throw hammers if you're Mario or Luigi and if you're Peach she throws heartbombs, Toad is throwing boomerang and with Link he shoots his magic sword. Not only that but once you're with Mario, Luigi, Peach and Toad, while crouching you're basically projected from most fireballs and some flames that are projectile based from the enemies and such.

Now here comes the question. Is a hammer suit power up considered to be overpowered in Super Mario Bros. X (SMBX) since well, with a hammer suit you can basically break like a lot of NPCs and also bosses aswell except if you get hurt during your hammer suit power up usage. Of course you can use that specific power up for utulizing specific gimmicks and other related things but there are peoples that they think that this specific power up is considered to be completly overpowered and even other times be broken especially (custom) bosses.

So, is that hammer suit considered to be overpowered in SMBX?

yes, it is overpowered, especially since you are protected from fireballs, and you can beat bosses incredibly quickly. There's also no way to make anything immune to it via npc coding.

Yeah that's the most stupid part because we simply don't have any codes that has like "nohammer=" to deny that. If there's a Lua code that does that that would be at least a great functionality but right now without any extention what so ever it's impossible to do it without filtering power ups like that.

Weather or not it is overpower or not, I can not say, I hate it so much that I never use it unless required! I always replace it with a leaf if I could! If I had to rank the items from most useful to least useful for me, then

Tanooki Suit
Leaf
Ice Flower
Bomb Suit
Mushroom
Fire Flower

but otherwise, yeah. The bombs are very useful when I have nothing else, but, here is something to keep in mind! I play mostly as Peach and Link, yet I find the Tanooki Suit and Leaf better. I just dislike projectile based power-ups in general, but they have their uses! I might use the Hammer Suit in a Speed Run to show how broken it is at one point!

To say you this and maybe you already have seen as of how I sort my power ups in my SMBX videos, I oftenly safe up my hammer suit and such and use my tanooki suit as a primary power up to use if that power up does exists ingame somewhere. That way I don't lose my secondary power up that easily.

The hammer bro suit is OP as hell. That's why people love it.

If it's a bit too OP, then don't use it in an episode, seems to be why Nintendo is always forgetting the dang thing exists.

The hammer suit is only op if you don't design with it in mind. And this community is so stuck-up with its fire and ice flowers they have no idea how to even use any other powerup without it being overpowered.

But inserting it into an episode wouldn't really work, unless all levels are
designed around it, or you make the player lose it after beating these specific levels.

True, Hammer Suits can be relatively fun and all while playing any SMBX levels no matter what but at the same time they're just destroying the creator's purposes until they know how to design around to it with that specific power up. It's still a fun power up though especially with specific characters and such.

Sure but that doesn't mean you're not allowed to use that hammer suit power up for fun purposes... also it's rare in SMB3 so that's another thing.

It's overpowered because unlike fire flowers, they can bypass through walls, which ruins levels that contains enemies unreachable for players to normally reach(but hammers could). The most overpowered item I can find, yet there's another power-up but I'm not going to say so since its attack is short to like melee range.

Not really, it's not like this is Mega Man where some weapons aim straight for the nearest enemy. But this is my opinion, plus, I didn't find it super helpful in my playthrough of SMB3.

Meh, the only thing that i don't design with hammer suits are bosses, if you play any of my normal levels (basically level that doesn't have the usual super-layered and evented boss) you can play it without problems, the hammer suit doesn't break anything, but as i said, in bosses, having a hammer suit would break some attack patterns and some events, if it wasn't for that, i'd gladly hand out hammer suits everywhere lol, i am thinking on a way to prevent boss breaking in my levels and episodes.... Pheraps friendly npcs?
I place leaves in the more bottomless pit heavy levels to "ease the pain" and also i find them useful in levels where there are enemies immune to fire or ice, i remember someone made a castle level and it was filled with fire/ice immune enemies... Uh...
Was it a level by bossedit with the douvle mouser fight? Can't remember
