I don't thing that changing HUD just for one level is a good idea.

I think that it really shouldn't need lighting, because the graphics are already designed with lighting in mind. Adding dynamic lighting to normal graphics is fine, but in this case it would look quite strange since you'd be adding lighting on top of lighting.

This also means anything I share that's SMBX related will be for the 38A version. You are more than welcome to make masked versions of my graphic submissions for any versions of SMBX that use sprite masks. Please just let me know.
