Airship Attack feels like a longer version of The Invasion 2 IMO. And it is a good episode although some of the levels are forgettable to the point that you would think "that level was not there before" if you were to play it again due to the length (Quality > Quantity). I guess it has aged well because you can still enjoy it but that may depend on if/how the community's ideals of quality and quantity have changed over the past 4 years. Also long episode + no shorcuts makes is not a combination that results in it being good speedrunning (if we included an E-World% catgory, then it would be a more accessible as it would be much shorter than any% or 100%).

Super Mario Star Expedition has aged quite well. However, the excessive length of some levels and the arbitrary location of some stars does detract from the excellent level design. I'm also not a fan of every star from the normal worlds being required to access the special world.

As I said I'd play Super Mario Star Expedition and so far in world 1 it's okay. I'm slightly bored though.

The star challenges were interesting and clever in how you had to reach them such as using a timestop switch to get a star in the world 1 castle.
The levels are just levels with graphics but the design doesn't seem to interesting.

Also world 1 stars were off in difficulty. There was this area in 1-5 you had to go above the level and you could barely see it. 1-6 2 of the stars were kind of annoying to get since you could barely see the color differences. Also it was kind of dumb that to get 1-5 you had to climb rocks in the hub world and in that level had a sign that told you to climb rocks.

I like the mini-star challenges in each hub area so far. Onto world 2

Super Mario Star Expedition is a very good episode from what I have played so far *up to World 6-5*, but the only flaws are that the levels are insanely long, and that some stars are very annoying to find. Try finding a star in 5-1. It's not fun.

Super Mario Star Expedition seems better as a speedrun episode rather than an actual episode.
I have just completed world 2 of the game and here are my thoughts.
Here's one about world 1, there were vines that were used as background and it was annoying how they used the graphic as a background and you could still climb then in that state.
Also the swoopers blended into the graphics too much in one of the levels/

I really enjoyed 2-3, and fortunately the elevators in that section could just be skipped which is bad since the mechanic just kind of broke itself.
I also really enjoyed 2-4, and it was a really decent level that used bo-ombs.

2-1 was super annoying to play because there were 4 switch rooms, one of which had a star, which required 2 other switches to be open. I did the calculations and there's only a 1/6th chance you do it in the right order in the first time and if you don't you have to do the blue switch room again.
2-5 was pretty boring but the boo attached to the star was a really nice touch.
2-6 was also an irritatingly annoying level. I must have backtracked at least 15 times in that level hitting switches.
Also world 2 hub star was just pretty annoying that you just have to fly to a random area to get it.

So far I liked 1/6th of the game and I only think 1/12th of the game was designed well.

Just got done with world 3 and I honestly think this is one of the episodes that was good for its time but aged poorly

3-1 and 3-2 were pretty much forgettable, but okay
3-3 was okay, but the last section had this really annoying snow background that really hurt to look at since of how rapidly it was traveling
3-4 The last section before the goal was essentially a maze, and it was so frustrating trying to find the pipes on the top right and bottom left when people will search through all of it. Also the pipe on the top right asked you to freeze an enemy catch it as its ascending and then kill with it. I can do it easily, but for an average player that's pretty demanding for world 3. Also it was incredibly unclear where 3-4 was.
3-5 was an ok level but still pretty forgettable and had this really dumb star where you had to repeat the same section of the level twice in a row
3-6 had a freeze unfreeze gimmick, but it felt incomplete and more can be done with it.

The only positive things are nice graphics again, the iceballs were a neat touch and so was the blooper star but at this point, its been overused.

So far I have liked 1/9th of the game and only 1/18th of the game was decently designed. 1/6th of the game so far has been bad in my opinion. The rest was okay not decent though.

I thought the developer intended for you to be able to climb them?

Yeah that's true but the issue is that it most people usually with that graphic set make that background purely, and it's kind of frustrating when you accidentally latching on to it by accident.

Just got done with world 4 and man it was so much more fun than I expected.
A note on world 3, world 3-3 has an area where backtracking is done right

4-1 and 4-3 were still kind of boring levels though.
4-2 was a blast from the different type of koopas to the moving mushroom layers to the star challenges.
4-4 was also fun to play with the interesting blackout gimmick albeit it could use a little indicator to warn better, but for what it is now, it servers its purpose well.
4-5 was also fun to play as a giant tree level and super great
4-6 was also a nice treehouse area with technical difficulties with the balls and the boss fight was super fun and adrenaline-rushing.

This brings me up to 6/24 levels I actually like, 3/24 levels that I think were awful and 15/24 levels that were just boring.

Also the hub music in this world is amazing but the hub itself feels rather disjointed. That's my last quick review of the day, and will tackle on the rest tomorrow.

IMO Star Expedition seems overrated from playing world 1 (perhaps I should play more of it but so far, not as good as everyone says it is)

I never played past the ice castle. Or if I did, I don't remember any level from the worlds past it. That level is my favourite one in the game. The music and design resonate with me. The rest of the game up to that point felt very same-y. Lots of what feels like palette swaps of levels.

Anyways, I played world 5 and this world was so obsessed with you carrying springs for no good reason.

5-1: Pretty boring level, had a neat star that required you to analyze that you could aim a shell at the switch via.

5-3: This level had this very annoying part at the end with purple goombas, where intiially you'd go on the platforms to kill the goombas, but you actually need a spring, so any reasonable person on their first playthrough needs would backtrack and jump those 10 platforms again. I however avoided this using my knowledge of smbx and putting the spring on the hoopster. Also, after you killed all the goombas you had to backtrack to the beginning of this section. I don't think this was a good level.
5-4: This level existed.
5-5: This level's second half was really well designed in my opinion and it was backtracking done right as the level layout completely changed from going above the level to below it.
5-6: The tanooki suit areas were really cool especially the first one where you had to use tanooki to dodge a giant firebar.

I liked 6.5/30 levels, 4/24 of them were awful, and the rest was boring. I really want to stop playing this episode.

World 6 was just kind of finished.

6-1 had a unique gimmick that made me have fun but I was bored at the same time, so I guess I like half of 6-1
6-2 I don't remember anything about this level.
6-3 This level was pretty fun. Its bubbles gimmick with other bubbles was pretty great. The vine climbing portion with the bullet bill bubbles was clever, and the 3rd star where you had to spot the off-spiny was very neat.
6-4 I remember purple mario world and a propeller block and that's about it.
6-5 This is basically the best level in the game. Every npc placement actually feels like it has a purpose there. It feels like the level was constructed around the npcs rather than the other way around. I actually think this is a great level.
6-6 I heard the mother brain sound on the boss and then I quit the game but this is more due to limitations of 1.3

I like 9/36 of the levels and despise 4/36 of them

I just beat world 7 and I have no idea what the first 5 levels were about.

Anyways, 7-5's last 8th was pretty neat with a random moving vine climb
7-6 was also a really good level with having you traverse a set of moving platforms to and through and due to that this actually felt different while backtracking. However, one gripe is that this level appears to be a sudden difficulty spike out of nowhere. I was using leaf toad so I can't really tell.

I like 10/36 of the levels and despise 4/36

Tower of Biased 2 is now up for discussion. I personally have never played it but watched some videos of it and remembered this level that was essentially npc/block spam with stars.

The main problem I have with episodes like Tower of Biased and MAGLX is that they force you to play through some junk levels to get to the good stuff. Some of these episodes attempt to get around it by making the worst of the worst levels optional, but you still run into stuff like the "npc/block spam with stars" that Eclipsed mentioned.

Since Super RMN World doesn't have that problem, I'm nominating that episode. And since that episode isn't on the forums, I'm including a link to its RMN page.

Funny you should mention Tower of Biased 2, I have a level in that episode (The Chapel of Dissonance) and it was my first time participating in a community contest of any sort.
