I probably won't do much to celebrate, but we'll see. No matter what, I will still use SMBX, for it continues to bring me great joy.

SMBX's birthdays could have been celebrated all these years, not exactly now if you know what I mean. If we didn't celebrate the rest of the years, why this one?
Because 10 is a special number pieskyhigh

Yeah I agree with this

Most of the numbers ending with 0 are special

Right Knux?

Plus apart from SMBX 2 being laggy it's music (some) is sped up I think, "Metroid Charge" was an example.
Metroid Charge is faster than the original, but I think that's the only song with increased speed (the rest I found them normally)

I would be surprised if any community for any single game could survive that long.

Nah, this is way too long but do you guys think the smbx community will at least continue to be alive for the next 5 years? Will this even be possible?

It's been on for a while... Don't think it will be forgotten, but it'll be different. I'm sure.

Let's see if Facebook and the other crap even exists then. There's not enough experience yet on how long you could expect a community to stay alive ... this community was written off repeatedly before SMBX2 even was a thing.

i still believe that the SMBX general activity has decreased by a significant ammount, but that is irrelevant BOT

stuff is still being developped (both the game and projects), just at more remote places

If you guys want to do a SMBX anniversary contest why not make it one where you can only use vanilla SMBX 1.3.0.1 to recreate the days back before the code of the game was cracked by lunalua back when people said SMBX was impossible to mod talk about how the times change.

The contest should be 'make a level using the very first build of smbx', which can be found on MFGG

Sounds like a joke, but making a level in 1.0 is just a horrible way of making levels. You would be asking people to make a level in the legacy editor of the legacy editor and no, in this case, 2 negatives do not make a positive.

And the fact if a 10th anniversary contest was to happen, it would probably be happening just after the release of beta 4 and 10th anniversary or not, disallowing the version that only just came out in a contest is just off.

Same here.

But I guess we are still up for like 4 or 5 years

Why does the contest have to be in Beta 4. MAGLX3 is already going to be a contest for Beta 4. Also even if the original editor is terrible 1.3.0.1 is still a good editor that many previous contests have been made in before so why should the contest take place in newer version of SMBX not to mention it is celebrating the anniversary of the original SMBX and not the 1.4.4 or 2.0 versions of SMBX so it only makes sense that the levels are created in that engine unless there is enough people that want to you the original although the only question is would levels made in the original version work in 1.3.0.1?

The 1.3 editor is not a good editor. It has a poor layout and is missing a number of really important features, an undo button for one. The idea for a contest in Beta4 is because it'll be the best version of SMBX yet. Also sure the 1.3 editor was used in past contests but that's because it was the best thing available back then. I don't see any reason why it makes sense to use obsolete software

There are still a lot of people the use 1.3.0.1 to make episodes in given how I noticed there aren't as many 2.0 episodes being worked on compared to the 1.3.0.1 episodes so if there was a contest in 1.3.0.1 I am sure there will be people that would participate in it. Also if we wait until Beta 4 which already has a contest waiting for its release then the anniversary contest would just be ignored for MAGLX3 not to mention it would be best to do the contest close to the anniversary. Maybe either have the start date or the submission date end on the day SMBX was first released publicly.

Like the contest could use Beta3 if Beta4 isn't out which would be better than 1.3. Also people using 1.3.0.1 could still contribute since 1.3 levels are compatible with Beta3, no reason to have the contest require use of 1.3.0.1

MaGLX3 could be excused as the anniversary contest as it is likely to be similar to MaGLX2 in scope, making it one of the biggest SMBX contests.
