Would a 2d rpg-like game be possible in SMBX?

Would a 2d rpg-like game be possible in SMBX?

Aka, a story-driven SMBX game, where instead of an SMBX episode being a sequence of levels with a world map to tie it together, each level would be part of one world like in an rpg, and the game would remember what happened in each level.

I've tried in vanilla SMBX with no luck.
Would something like this be possible in 1.4.x or 2.0?

It's absolutely possible in SMBX2, but you'd have to learn a little Lua coding for the memory. If you need help with figuring things out join the codehaus discord server and people will be happy to help!

I can't say for sure about 1.4 but I think it's possible. However, you'll probably have a harder time figuring it out due to limited learning resources for Teascript.

id think it is cause i once asked if a super metroid type game was possible to make using the smbx engine and i got a yes so by that logic something like say castlevania aria of sorrow could be made in it too tho thats an example cause in that game you can level up and such as per rpg elements
