Forum Rules

Postby Shadow Yoshi » Sat Jul 26, 2014 4:12 pm

Welcome to the Super Mario Bros. X Forums! To keep these forums running smoothly, a few rules are put in place.

1. RESPECT OTHERS. Flaming, insults, and other forms of harassment are not tolerated. However, be aware that a lot of joking and sarcasm happens on the internet and you shouldn't take everything seriously.

2. FOLLOW COMMON POSTING HABITS. Don't make meaningless posts. In addition, if you're going to post in a topic that is more than a week old (or bumping), you should make sure the post contributes to the discussion. Try to refrain from double posting, as there is an "Edit" button on all of the posts you make to facilitate the need of adding more content. This is also an English-based forum, so please make your posts readable and structured as such.

3. NO MATURE OR ILLEGAL CONTENT. The SMBX Forums are patronized by people who are under 18, so please respect their situation by not posting any mature (18+) content. Illegal content is also not tolerated for obvious reasons.

4. MISCELLANEOUS OTHER RULES: Do not backseat moderate; the mods and the rest of the staff can do their jobs themselves. There is a "Report" button on the top left corner of each post for alerting moderators of something you think violates the rules. Please also refrain from making multiple accounts. Additionally, please do not post download links from Sendspace here.

Please also read the Chat rules, as well as any rule topics located in any forums. For quick access visit the links below:

The forum staff maintains the right to enforce the rules at their discretion. Any decision they make is final; if you believe a staff member is not doing their job, contact one of the administrators.

If you have been banned on the forums or on Discord, you can use this form to appeal your ban.

Hey kiddos. Until now you might have been scratching your heads as to how we actually punish you for breaking any of these rules. After some executive discussion we have a nice clear guideline that you may freely exploit and get permabanned by doing so read up on to learn how much we tolerate breaking the rules.
GETTING WARNED

Before I start we need to go over some ground rules.

-First off: We may override this system at anytime and either not ban you or ban you up to a month.
-Second: We will ONLY permaban you if you break certain rules, receive too many warnings at any given time, or refuse to improve your behavior.
-In general, extended bans and permabans will only be handed out for special misdemeanors, not mild breaking of the rules.

Upon being warned, the mod doing the warning will look at all the warnings you have received over the past 3 months. He'll then look at this chart and see what you've won:

If this is the user's ________ in the past 3 months:
1st Warning: A slap on the wrist.
2nd Warning: 1 day ban.
3rd Warning: 4 day ban.
4th Warning: 1 week ban.
5th and up Warning: Staff discretion.*

*This is us sitting down to figure out how we're going to deal with you, because 5 warnings in 3 months tend to be too much. If we still believe you can improve, we'll ask you to make a case for yourself to try to avoid grievous bans. If not, however, then your future in this forum is going to look very bleak.

This can be circumvented and a custom ban can be given at anytime for any reason, including but not limited to:
-An impressive overall record of warnings.
-A streak of being warned for the same thing over and over again.

It's important to remind you, the user, that EVEN OUR PATIENCE HAS ITS LIMITS. Please do not try to skirt the rules, otherwise you will receive extended bans. Remember, this is a guideline for the staff, not rules.
From illusion to truth. From darkness to light. From doom to eternity.

As of today, we no longer use any formal warning system and board warnings will not be handed out.

Violations of the rules will be handled at the staff's discretion.
