Bump! but only so newcomers can share how creative they are.

I show my creativity in both SMBX projects and custom levels by:
  • adding SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis style graphics and sprites in my custom levels
  • using video game music I PURCHASED from the iTunes store* & Google play music store*.
That's how newly creative I am! ^^"
*Yes, I been over this, there are video game composers who puts their work from popular video games on both stores.

Don't know how these things make your levels more creative.

When i work on my project Super Mario Nova, i try my best to be creative and use all kind of cool ideas to my advantage, i usually have concept arts for what i want the level to have, then i speak with my dev team about ideas and how the stuff in the concept arts can be used as a gimmick, then they too give me ideas for cool interactions that i can implement and then i try to force myself to always think about interesting usages of my gimmicks. I am very creative with story but i need my dev team to help me fix my plot holes and make everything seems understandable for people who have no clue about the story. I am also creative with how my episode will play out and also with cutscenes, i still have a long way to go with them but i have had some success with them such as the teaser for my contest and few other cutscenes in my project.
When i work on the project Mario's Kingdom Adventure, i don't really get too creative as the project is meant to be simple and not that complicated but i like to get creative with aesthetics and the gimmick usage, well yeah not to the same extend as my project but it still something.
When i work on other stuff, i don't really get creative that much but when i have ideas, i try to get creative.

All my climaxes in levels are autoscroll segments so no, not really.

I guess some of my levels are creative, others not much. I have been inspired by lots of cool gimmicks from great SMBX episodes so I try to recreate them on my project Rosalina's Satellite. Despite I don't make graphics, there's people that also likes how my levels look, but on gameplay..... I guess, that sometimes... I fail (I still have lots of gameplay ideas for RS though and I hope they will be good). I also focused a lot on the story of that project and I've received good criticism of it too!

When it's about visuals, my levels tend to be creative in that way and I try to make the decorations the less repetitive possible to give a different vibe to the sections, when you play games like Terraria and you know how to make graphics my mind says "you have to make graphics for a specific level" and if that happens my level will have the detail of a videogame hand made map (and not a map randomly generated or a hand made map with the same decoration in the whole level)

But when it's about gimmicks I have to think because I'm not that creative, the most creative moment I had when I was doing my project was when I was making the level 1-4

Overall, I'm kinda creative, but I have to think a lot because several times I don't know how to execute the ideas.... or I just don't have any idea

I try to make my levels as distinct as possible. What I mean is that I want them to be remembered individually.

I'm only good at planning, but sucks at execution.

I try to create levels I'd like to play by trying a bunch of ideas that might work. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't, but it's fun process.

Hooray! I'm glad you agree with this mindset. It makes an episode be remembered more for the journey and not just for the final battle.

If you bet your whole episode experience on a single level, then its far better to just design that level instead of series of levels that will prove to be unforgettable.

True. I often find that episodes like the New Great Castle Adventure have really unique levels to them, and those are what I enjoy about them.

I don't even think I've every actually published a single level on this site. I can be creative, though it's just hard to express my creative through the editor. I tend to get sidetracked and completely lose focus. I don't know if it's just SMBX or what, but I've made more progress on a Skyrim mod I'm working on than my SMBX episode called "Dimension X". My mod has around 24 hours of work put into it, probably more than that, actually. For my episode, I've been working on it for like 2 years. I'm never satisfied with my work, so I've scrapped on restarted 3 or 4 times at this point. Though now, I think I might be getting somewhere, but I haven't completed level 1 yet, so... We'll see...
