Thanks for all the answers. So, 2.0 is developed by another programmer (Horikawa Otane, I think) but is the "official" continuation of Redigit's 1.3 version, while SMBX 1.4 is an unofficial successor of 1.3 developed by 5438A38A and now by Wohlstand and Kevsoft. But on the homepage we will see forever the download for 1.3.0.1 and both successor will be considered unofficial, right?

2.0 is by a team of devs. Horikawa is the leader. 38A is only by 5438A38A and no other devs. It is also a completely different engine.

Yes but 1.4.1, 1.4.2 and 1.4.3 are developed by the same team that developes PGE

No, Wohlstand and Me didn't develop SMBX 1.4 at all. We only host the executeable and the forum there for SMBX 1.4.

Ok Kevsoft, now I understand. So Wohlstand is developing just PGE that will be included in SMBX 2.0.
In conclusion, the real future of SMBX is PGE with smbx configuration pack, while Redigit's engine have no future except with application hacking.

It's been said a few times before, but we are intending to include most if not all features from 38A into 2.0. However, it will take some time because we can't just port them from 38A, being that it's a completely different engine and we don't have access to the source code anyway, and because we want to spend some time making them work well. A lot of 38A's features are a little shaky, and we want to make sure the 2.0 versions are a little more stable.

Well, can you show the link to the 1.4 forums?
Actually i found out that SMBX 1.4 is written in TeaScript! Also, maybe with enough conversations, maybe i can get Mr. 5438A38A to agree to add the 1.4 features into 2.0!

Teascript is limited to LunaLua. 1.4's physics and AIs is still incorrect. 5438A38A is still focusing on the next update and maybe patches.

No you can't. 38A has NOTHING to do with LunaLua. LunaLua is 2.0 exclusive. 38A's scripting language is teascript-vb, which is totally unrelated and objectively less powerful than LunaLua. Which itself doesn't even matter much as the 38A features are hardcoded into the engine, rather than being scripted extensions like the ones in 2.0.

He didnt. Teascript-vb was created by 38A. It's not a well designed or well constructed language, and there are far fewer learning resources available than Lua, which is a commonly used scripting language. The fact of the matter is that 38A and 2.0 are as related as Skyrim and Mass Effect. Two totally different applications. End of. They HAPPEN to look superficially similar, but 2.0 is based over SMBX 1.3, while 38A is a completely separate program.

It's also accurate to say that 2.0 is not made in Lua either. 2.0 is based over 1.3, which was made using VB (I don't know why 38A chose such an outmoded language to make his engine in, but oh well). The LunaLua extension was written using C++ and ASM, which hooks in a Lua scripting environment, where most of the new features were added.

I don't think 38A is actully on the forums.
He is, he just doesn't show up much. He is more active, than, say Redigit (although that's kind of given at this point). He is the one who posts the updates and patches, so that proves that he's there.

Also, I do think that SMBX 1.4.3 has some smart ideas (built in script and npc editing, for example) but it's not in any way perfect, not that I think 2.0 is either.
Each version has it's advantages, I'm just going to leave it at that.
