At this point I really don't know whether if I should continue to make levels or not, and I'm so shocked that I am actually saying this.
Usually I'm a guy who doesn't give up at all, but if only one level I've made is mediocre and four are good with the rest (especially this one) being garbage, I feel like I don't have any chance of improvement 90% of the time.
I want to think of new ideas, but now I feel like the next laughing stock of the community.
I had worked on a part of this for nearly a year, enjoyed it, added the 4-step design, and even looked up so many tips and read some feedback, that now I feel like a soulless failure.
I swear when I look at my SVLC 2016 entry, my City Kirby level, and especially Wasabi Find that I can do better than this.
I feel like I'm mostly damaging this community and wasting people's time when I make levels and to see that I get last really makes me regret ever submitting.
I can learn from my mistake when MaGlx 3 come by in the future, and I swear I am NEVER making a open level again.
I'm so sorry that I've been making smbx look bad with my garbage levels, I only wanted to make something new, they were just never executed right.
Now, I would like to get some reception so I can hopefully improve as the decade concludes, so I can become a good level designer and have a true role in the smbx community's history.
Don't feel bad. I haven't played your level but you win some, you lose some :P

It's the amount of stuff you added into that level, the sheer lack of focus really made it stand out. Not only the amount of things, but the specific things you added. It's like you created ideas without a conscience, a second voice. A lot of those ideas were just utter silly, cringy, really so bad they were good. A thomas the train model, a tails powerup, wizard powerup, ghost powerup, etc. Janondorf... all heavily inspired by Sailor Moon... I think. Based on what you have said thus far, pretty much your entire concept and level itself was done unironically, and that actually kind of disturbs me a little. A lot of what you did is what people would do as a shitpost or a joke, because of the sheer stupidity of the idea.
On top of that, there was no idea of when to stop. You made 19 sections, so many events and warps it's not even worth counting. There is a such thing as tossing an idea you may not like.
Finally, it's how unrefined it was. Everything was broken to some degree. Everything. Whoever you may have had as a beta tester did a horrible job, if you even had one. There are so many nitpicks that anyone could do.

Don't quit. Just because you've done something that may do just about everything the exact opposite of how they should have been, doesn't mean you should quit. You can only improve from here. Ask people for help, ask people what they think you did wrong (but be specific, name one part). Ask what to do next time. And if you repeatedly get the same condescending remarks like "everything," then come to me and I'll bite their heads off.

It's another thing this community has an incredibly major issue doing. There's so many people here who want to improve. It takes a boatload of patience to be the mentor and the mentee, trying to constantly improve, but honestly this community won't move forward if we continue to be so toxic that we intentionally or especially unintentionally deter them from continuing to make levels. We all started somewhere and it annoys me a bit when we make fun of people who are at a "somewhere" we used to be.

I haven't played the level myself, but I can try to summarize what the judges said into a few clear points of criticism:
  • making a level with a massive amount of content is not a good idea. In mario, individual concepts are often broken up into individual levels, because making a level with a strong focus on one thing is a lot easier than making a level about many things.
  • there is no consistent visual aesthetic to the level. You don't have to make everything not "clash", but generally speaking it's important to keep to one visual style as much as possible.
  • the level lags.
  • the powerups behave very strangely, and look like they're broken (even if they aren't).
  • the sound effects for the powerups are painful to the ears.
  • the story and original characters don't make the level better.
  • the methods of conveying mechanics and direction to the player (such as the riddles) are not working.
  • In the boss battle, Ness and the Mr. Saturns blend into the background too much.

Yep those results sound about right for a casual-ass level I made in late 2015.
The comment that the forest looks unnatural is hilarious though---you do know the name literally means "The Crazy Trees" right....

Entries were no longer accepted almost three weeks ago, and right now the results are being posted. If you want to know what competitions you can be a part of, then a few months later you can participate in MaGLX3. It's another community contest that's a collaboration with the Talkhaus.

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, the resuts are coming, I am so anxious; I swear, when I sended my submission I had the conviction that it deserved tier 2 or 3, but with the passing of days, I started to feel more and more that I should have corrected a lot of stuff. I can't stop thinking about those sniper type enemies that I implemented in my level and how it is so crappy that you must stay in one place so they don't fill the screen with an ugly spread of death instead of shooting a delicate line of projectiles. Now I am full with uncertainty about if my level will be considered at least good.
Well, patience is a virtue, lets see who rises as the victor and whose dreams get shattered, while our judges struggle to keep their sanity. Stay tuned for the next episode of SCC, same Valt-time! same Valt-channel!

Honestly, weither you beg Quill for the results it wait for them, they will be the same. I have the privilege to view them when I wake up. I k ow I will see our names in the morning, there is no need for me to hide it. We did not get bottom half on the scoring rubric (watch us get a 4.99) and wither I wait or not does not change that fact. It is the worst when you barely make a tier or not. Let's just hope the contest Episode is world map based and is split by theme and not rank.
