Looking good! I Like that you're making something new and original while keeping the Sednaiur influence. I can definitely see what people are saying about the slopes though... Yeah I think Henry Richard put it best, the longer slopes should be more "wavy".
I also like how people are saying how it looks like peanut butter. The Idea of a cave resembling peanut butter actually brings up a lot of new ideas- you could expand upon the peanut butter look and maybe add, say, some peanut brittle stalagmites as BGOS, some ground decoration with peanut shells, Some nut-based enemies like chestnut goombas- You could have an entire cave level themed around nuts! Kinda like how NSMBU's Layer Cake Desert world was themed around sweets.

So a couple of days ago I wanted to practice some dirt/sand textures to see how good I could imitate the SMAS graphical style, so I made these lil fellas:

The third image is the closest you got to making a good SMB3 sand/grass texture, although there shouldn't be as many darker spots as you've drawn there. There's really no secret to the sand/grass texture, no clear order. All you need to know about it is that it has a dark spot surrounded by a lighter dark spot, have lighter spots and the rest of a normal color.

If you want to craft a real dirt/sand textures you might want to come up with your own or just search for them on google to inspire yourself. It really helps. Good luck!

It looks pretty good so far! If you want to know, the graphics were originally made by Construct101, and if it'll help you, here's a rip of the graphics inside the actual graphics file, although I couldn't get the pallet file to actually work right for me so I just had to use Mario's pallet.

Yeah, I know it's messy, but it's how the graphics file stores it. The right one has Yoshi inside an egg when ducking.

I'm more reminded of SMW"s dirt filler tiles for the first, the second reminds me a bit of SMB1's dirt filler tiles if they were squished a bit, while the third looks the best as it replicates SMB3's grass/sand texture/pattern.

Well I added a palm tree and it took forever to make. It kinda looks like the palm tree that sednaiur made which would make sense considering that I based the design off of that (I wanted to make it somewhat original though hence the trunk.)

Ehh, I do agree with you, although I'm mainly looking at the design of the leaves, as they look pretty odd.

Yeah, I do have to agree with Enjl. If anything, that palm tree looks like it's withering away. Here's an example on a good sprited palm tree (No offense to your palm tree):

that was the tool tab in Paint.net. It wasn't completely off of the cropped image. Also I still have a bunch more BGOs to make before it's ready to be used. Hopefully it will be included in the next update.

I've been working on a Ruins themed tileset, although at the moment, it's pretty unfinished. Here it is in its current state:

I'm wondering if I should switch the grey stone blocks into Sednaiur's expanded version or if I should just stay with the Nintendo ones, and yes, I do need to add some background objects in that tileset since there are none at the moment.
