Mario's Twisted Adventure

I've been working on a project for a little over a year now and have yet to announce it. So finally, I am announcing my first episode, "Mario' s Twisted Adventure!"

Now, as a first-time creator of an episode, I do not have high expectations that this will be popular. However, if you give it a shot, you may find you enjoy it. I have loaded many neat secrets and jokes thought the worlds, so keep an eye out. This episode is designed to give a traditional-Mario save-the-princess vibe. As you progress throughout the worlds the levels WILL get better, I promise! I learned how to make levels best by gaining experience and learning what not to make, and what is acceptable. You may even find yourself sad when it comes to an end, "We want to see more levels of yours, iForgot!" Though, this deems unlikely, but as I said, the levels will get better as you progress in the episode.

Some of the levels are a bit short, I apologize for that. Think of level design as writing a book; you may experience what's called "writer's block," or in this case, "designer's block." Sometimes I simply cannot think of a way to continue the level so I will cut it a bit short.

This episode is designated to my step-dad, he enjoys playing ROM hacks, so I figured I would make him one he could play coming from me as a gift.

I made a grass-themed world for world 1, but those levels were all my first levels when I didn't know how to use SMBX to its maximum potential, so they are not pretty. This world will not be included in the final copy, but I will put a separate download link for anyone who would like to play the episode with the grass world included.
Updates will be often. I will show the progress as I create more and more levels.

ORGANIZATION
Spoiler: show
  • Each world has 6-8 levels.
  • Each world has a secret level granting you a star that you can use at the star warp for power ups (minus the 4th. The secret at the end grants you the star).
  • The worlds are themed, and the cut-scenes represent how each world goes from one to another.
  • Not all worlds have 2 castles, but a few have a fortress mid-world and final castle at the end.

CREDITS
Spoiler: show
Once I release the episode there will be a text document stating as much credit to people's music and textures as I can find. I have, however, lost quite a few of the creator's names of some of the packs I've used. Yeah.....not good. With that being said, once the episode has been released and you have NOT been credited with what is rightfully yours, by all means, please, let me know and I will be sure to update the text document!!!
Who knows, maybe I'll release the episode a bit early?

The screen shots look nice. Is this in 1.3 or 2.0?

FYI, SMBX episodes are not ROM hacks.
