Luigi's Fight for the Lost Island (New Screenshots!)

I am so excited to finally reveal this project! After almost 5 months in pre-development phases and team building, we are ready to show what we have so far!

STORY

Luigi has recently been living on a beautiful remote island as a summer getaway. The island’s diverse locales intrigued him, and he wanted to travel to all of them. But disaster has just struck the island! A big factory has been constructed at the summit of Sweet Peak, and it seems to be completely run by Shy Guys! This factory is causing pollution and chaos among the inhabitants of the island. Luigi decides to set off to Sweet Peak to get to the bottom of this nonsense!

Story is pretty primitive as of now, as it hasn't been our top priority.
GAMEPLAY

First off, lives are not a mechanic in this episode. Alternatively, the player has a universal coin counter that caps at 99,999. Every time the player dies, they will lose a small amount of coins. These coins can be spent at various shops throughout the game for power-ups and other goodies. In terms of world structure, each world will consist of approximately 3 levels. We chose this low number in order to prevent certain world themes getting boring, so each world doesn't overstay it's welcome. There are also 3 star coins to collect in each level, this will be able to be redeemed later in the game to unlock special surprises! Additionally, some levels will have secret exits that lead to extra worlds. These worlds are shorter than normal ones, but will warp you to a later world when completed.

Haha, the floating tree area is very clever, and the mole tree looks very exciting. Keep it up!

The screenshots look solid, I see you have good sense of aesthetics. What purpose do the A worlds have?

The `A` worlds are very short extra worlds that serve as segways into a warp that lets you skip to a later world.

Still using the legacy editor? Get SMBX2 and PGE, it will improve your experience significantly. Here's why. And remember, Yoshis are tools to be used and discarded.

Nice, Did you name your project as "Luigi's Fight ..." because of other names of episodes maybe like mine: "Luigi's Fight for Love" or maybe Luigi's Fight for The Mushroom Kingdom?

I really enjoyed this demo! The surprise in the tree area was truly shocking to me, and the level design was great. I also notice you took some inspiration from my level for level 2... Jokes aside, great work so far! Also, I feel like I may have what the Elder Thwomp was speaking of (;

The majority of people on my team aren't from the SMBX community. They're mostly people I know from streaming the Mario Maker 2 community. I introduced them to SMBX for this specific project.

Funnily enough, I did not even realize that the name was so close to others when we were deciding on it; a bit of an oversight on my part. I actually got an application for the team yesterday that thought that this was the sequel to Luigi's Fight for Love :lol:

Wow this looks really great. Coins go above 100 :o. I'm guessing there will be a shop of some sort?

Also this is just a minor nitpick, but the smw mole seems a little out of place in the mine. Other than that, the gfx look fantastic.

Yes! Shops will be available to buy various power-ups and other goodies. And about the moles, I agree. Actually, they are due to get a GFX overhaul to fit the style at some point in the future. :D
