Hey all! As part of a move towards more transparency this thread will be used to keep the community up to date with changes made. This thread will be posted to by staff members as changes come.
  • The staff have forced a change to all passwords on the forum. There has been a security breach that has compromised user passwords. If you have used the same password for any other accounts, please change those to a unique strong password. A password manager will help store and generate secure passwords. After a few months, passwords will be required to be reset again periodically to ensure account safety. If you are on Discord, please consider turning on Two Factor Authentication.
  • The SMBX Wiki will be closing for maintenance until further notice. Details will be shared as more are worked out.

An extra step after registration has been added as a precaution against spam and abuse of the forums. Chances of seeing spam bots will be far lower going forward.

It's the 10th anniversary of SMBX's launch. That's a big number!

Kley has passed on site ownership to Quill. Staff will remain the same with the exception of that change. Any questions about the site should be directed at Quill.

Also, a fix has been implemented to prevent "508 Resource Limit Reached" errors from being an issue. The SMBX download as well as this site should remain available going forward. We apologize for past inconvenience this issue has caused. We're still working on keeping bots away, and will continue to do so.

Work is being done behind the scenes to clean things up from prior attacks. Forum performance should be improved and page load times may be noticeably faster. Bandwidth usage has also steeply declined since the implementation of the botnet fix so 508s should be rare.

The SMBX forums will now be using phpBB's COPPA system for members that are under the age of 13. A group of registered COPPA users will have limited access to some forum features in order to make the community a safer place for its younger audience. This will not disrupt the typical member experience in any way, and will be set up to ensure everyone can participate in the SMBX community appropriately. An additional rule has been added specifying this change.

A change was made to the forum's CSS to reduce the width. Things should be more readable and just look better (especially for wide screens)! More back-end changes will be made in the near future.

The forums have been updated to latest phpBB version. Unfortunately this broke compatibility with the post merging extension so that is no longer available. There are a few visual tweaks left to be made for the SMBX theme, and those will be fixed relatively soon. Aside from those drawbacks the forums should run as normal. Sorry for any inconveniences with the downtime and the remaining tweaks left to be handled.

The SMBX theme and post merging have been fixed.

Code: Select all

The code BBcode has also been fixed.

Line breaks should now display properly, and this applies to previously posted code snippets.

There is now a Guides forum for members to post guides they have created for SMBX and related tools! The Help and Support and the Guides forum now have their own category to separate from the SMBX content forums.
