Why do people like Kaizo levels?

Postby Snessy the duck » Mon Dec 12, 2016 12:08 pm

So, I was wondering, why do people actually like Kaizo levels? I don't really see much appeal in extremely cumbersome levels that require near-perfect player imput and memorisation in order to finish. I much more prefer fun and fair traditional challenges that don't require insane amounts of perfection. How has these kinds of levels gained such a huge following over the years? I just don't get it!

Personally, I would say the satisfaction of completing them.

It's some kind of cult thing. People want to challenge themselves.

People also love bragging rights. But I agree Kaizo levels are so much beyond good and evil in terms of difficulty and player-friendliness that I don't try them. Respect to those who spend (and waste?) their time on that.

People like to have a super high difficulty from the start to get a high challenge on the players who are practiced and skilled enough to do it. Also, memorization is involved such as invisible blocks covering onto your way for tricking the players aswell for a laugh to the others aka reactions.

Probably to challenge themselves because they have mastered the controls etc, and test themselves to the limit.

But shorter levels are generally easier because less opportunity to make mistakes.

Even if creating a kaizo level may be shorter at first ... testing it to make sure you don't have an outright incompleteable mess will take you enough time after making the level

play kaizo x3 when we release it. There are some levels longer than anything you've ever seen in this community. And length of the level doesn't correlate to its difficulty.

Also I don't think kaizo levels are easier to make than normal levels. If anything, they're harder to make.

Length does correlate to difficulty to a certain extent, tough that can also depend on several things (like the amount of challenges the level posseses). And yes, Kaizos would be harder to make because of the testing process mainly but the fact that it is so easy to make it impossible and of course it could end up not being actually kaizo difficulty.

Maybe some people like Kaizo because it's more fast paced in places and more challenging (or unfairly hard lol)

Since everyone have unrelated Pokemon in their signature, I'll put some in mine too.

Anyway, Kaizo can be fun depending if you either watch 'em or play...

I find it to be fun just because it's a good challenge and it feels so satisfying to finish them. They also take a lot of creativity to make which is part of the fun experience imo

I find that there are super neat gimmicks that are just too mean for normal levels that work in kaizo levels.
Literally half my posts are shitposts
