Welcome to my first ever project!
The prospect of creating a project has always seeemed quite scary to me, however I have finally decided to create one which will be a resonable size and heavily inspired by Super Mario Bros. 3, and other early Mario platformers.
(The project is for SMBX 2.0 for reference.)
Each world up to World 5 will feature 4 levels and the rest will feature 5 levels, there will be 8 worlds, however, each world will contain an additional 4 levels which will be compleatable only through finding secrets throughout the map, the intention is that they will be considerably more difficult than the levels normally in that world and will be compleatly optional. But if they are all completed, they will lead to a special world which will be extreamly hard, however, these levels will only be done after the main episode.
Plot:
The Mushroom Kingdom is invaded by a species of Poison Mushroom Toads, who take over everything, from Peach's to Bowser's castle. (The plot will become more apparent when the first demo is released).

Wow, this is cool project, the level design is great and the aesthetics look very nice. I hope you won't give up and put more effort into this. Good work!

Also...
Some new screenshots showing a ghost house and the brand new map of Sand Land:
A demo will be released soon (a couple of weeks) featuring Worlds 1 and 2, I will update again then.

Demo 1 Released!
The first demo featuring Worlds 1 and 2 has been released.
Download: https://www.dropbox.com/s/yu25dtbuh29mk ... 9.zip?dl=0
(Keep in mind that this demo only contains the first two worlds, and they are supposed to be quite easy and simple as they are played very early on).
If you encounter any problems in the demo, please tell me I will try to fix them for next one.
Also, new Screenshots:

I have made significant progress on World 5 and it is now nearing completion, I also have some new World 5 screenshots to share:
Also, I edited to the main thread so that all the screenshots are seperated in Worlds, so that it's more clear what you're looking at.
More progress will be coming soon!

I've decided to focus efforts on the World map currently for this project as over half of them are now complete.
Here's the new world map for World 4: Eerie Land which has been completed:
And also a new screenshot showing the outside of fortresses:
I will update again when the rest of the worlds are completed

Hi, I'm new ... and I'm doing an episode, I'm literally a stranger in this forum ... My episode is also based on Super Mario Bros 3. I already have only 6 levels done, but I need to make the world map. .. I know that the episode is not ready, but I would like to know if at any time, or on some occasion if you could, I do not know ... lend me the graphics of the world map? I know it's unusual but the truth will be very grateful if you do it.
(this is a bad translation of google)

I'm a sucker for SMB3 styled episodes, and I gotta say, so far this demo really delivers. Levels are really well designed, the graphics are bright and pleasant, and the idea of having a harder version of the world to unlock is interesting and shows potential. However, I think it would benefit to vary up the level themes a bit. As it stands, every level is rather bare-bones and generic Mario style, so maybe keeping the worlds generic but making the aesthetics or challenges in a level more varied would be cool.
Also, this is kind of a nitpick, but in the 2nd castle, the fences that move don't carry you with them. I don't know if this was intentional, but if it is, I'd recommend putting in a small segment where a fence moves but the player isn't in danger of death. That way the player knows the fences doesn't carry them and they won't die unfairly.
I shall return with a new episode...... soon.

Thank you for your feedback! I agree that the levels are currently a bit plain, and I'll try to make them more unique for the next demo. (Also I wanted to make the fences move with you, but when you have moving layers with fences / vines, it just moves on its own, so I don't know, I might find a fix for it sometime).

Honestly I think it's fine that the fences don't carry you, it adds another level of depth to the challenge. You'd just wanna let the player realize that they won't move with it so they don't just fall in lava.

The World Map is Complete!
After many hours of creating world map tilesets, it is complete, with all normal worlds and even a few of the 'specical worlds'.
Here's a giant screenshot:
Also I've changed World 2's castle so that it gives more of an introduction to the challenge, like previously said.
More progress soon!
EDIT: I felt that the world map looked too cluttered, so I decided to remake the entire thing. The screenshot has been updated.
