my first project: MARIO'S NIGHTMARE

Postby turtwig1123 » Wed Feb 05, 2014 4:05 pm

This is my first project that I am doing, I'm calling it "Mario's nightmare"
I'm planning to make about 8 worlds in the main story, there's still things that I am still sorting out but I will try to update any info when I can confirm them.

Note: I am truly sorry if I described this project in one of the most awkward ways known to man

This doesn't seem too good, there's clash, cuttoffs everywhere, and bad design choiches, doesn't even look fun to play...
try fixing the clash and cuttoffs, maybe in screen 2 you should use the smb3 cave background for the land/cave part

I agree with this. One thing you should note turtwig1123 is that using various elements from different Mario games doesn't make a level or project appealing, unless you're able to make it work out (an example of that would be through recoloring), but you don't necessarily have to do so.

My suggestion would be to keep a consistent theme with your levels (i.e. using SMB1 graphics throughout one level, SMW graphics throughout another level, etc.) to make it more appealing to others. If you fix these, you should be able to get more positive feedback and more attention from the userbase here.

ah, thanks for explaining that, the problem is that i might need something from a certain game when i want to do a specific thing, like when i wanted to make cliffs that couldn't be walked on.

There are various packs on the graphics subforum where you might be able to find what you're looking for. Though there might not be everything, but surely you'll find good stuff in there.

Since cutoffs and clash has been noted already I'm going to go straight with the level design. I really think the idea of making a cave underneath the level's surface, but what I don't like is that you made it right below it, not to mention you don't use the proper graphics for it. I'd suggest you to move the cave a little bit lower and use proper graphics. Also, try playing others levels and projects, they might inspire you. Otherwise, I'll be looking forward to any improvement.

I think there is too much clash. The design is looking interesting but,too much creativity is sometimes needless.And...You play Growtopia? I played that game too.
