The popular forum game that separates the good from the bad, the strong from the weak, and the loose-cannon cops from the slightly schizophrenic. That's all after we figure out who's who, of course.

M24 Host Signups (poll yo)

Postby underFlo » Wed Sep 09, 2015 1:13 pm

haha nice meme amiright

Mafia 24

We're looking for your quality mafia hosting skills and your quality mafia games for our next game!

You've seen Mafia.
You've played Mafia.
Now, it might just be your time to host some Mafia!

Sorry to me, but I will not be hosting. :(

How do I apply?
All you need to do is post your game suggestion in this topic!
However, you must have participated in at least one mafia game in order to host a game.

After you have posted, your three Game Masters, FallingSnow, Pseudo-Dino and I, will edit your post and respond in green at the bottom if we approve.
If we have comments or changes that we recommend, we will edit in red.
Optional suggestions may be in yellow or orange.

Tips to Remember:
Each user may only submit one game, so choose wisely!
Your game should contain around 10 to 16 players.
Have about 1 mafia member for each 4/5 townies.
Your game doesn't need to be overly complex to be fun and interesting. Sometimes a good combination of roles can produce a better result.
Don't try to go overboard with the custom roles! You don't need to change the entire theme of your game for it to be interesting.

Ready for Mafia?
Think up some ideas!

Surely we can think of something. I really don't feel like playing the same old Mafia with the same old games being submitted, so I'd like to have some sort of twist this time around to spice things up.

I propose the GMs make a thread discussing ideas for a host signup gimmick.

Pseudo-dino wrote: The teams/roles are actually pretty balanced.
26 players is way too high, there just aren't enough people here who are interested in Mafia. 16 is a good number, though. What conditions determine the number of players?
Are the two third party players on the same team? It's not really clear.
I don't understand how confusion works. What does it actually do?
Just my opinion, but there are way too many features here. Items, last will, ballot box. I would take either last will or ballot box out at least. It'd be really complex to understand during the game.

EDIT:
OK, player count is good now.
I still don't understand confusion. What does "reversed" mean here?
edit 2:
approved.
Spinda wrote:Are all A/B/C/D abilities active at the same time or are they randomly selected? If it's the latter, in which intervals do they get selected?
Sakuyai Izayoi seems really weak.
Same for Kaguya Houraisan's B and C ability.
Can Yuyuko Saigyouji use her ability every night while dead?
I'd say making her use this ability only once or twice in total is a better idea.
What is meant by "save" in Fujiwara No Mokou's C ability?
Aya Shameimaru's ability is dumb and I'm almost 100% certain that this makes no sense with the Touhou lore.
Yuuka Kazami's B ability seems really op.
Rinnosuke Morichika's B ability is dumb since she'll most likely not side with everyone, but only one of the other teams.
Is Item #2 distributed to everyone during every day? If so, it'd make everyone stronger equally. and thus be pretty pointless.
Item #4 seems kinda pointless. Also, it encourages shitposting.

It seems like it's kinda too much to handle with it being Ballot Box lynching and Last Will. I'd greatly appreciate it if you changed this.
Most of the roles do seem balanced fairly well though.

Edit: Almost good to go!

Since no one is giving me any balance suggestions, I might as well post this here to get feedback.

Quick edit: Decided to rename Group A and Group B to "The Pro Undead" and "The Anti Undead" to make the team a little more clear. I also colored coded every instance of the names of these groups for clarity in the post.

M24: Reanimation!
Unknown TV Hacker wrote:“Civil authorities in your area have reported that the bodies of the dead are rising from their graves and attacking the living.”
Basically, a big scientific research group discovered a way to reanimate corpses. However, this caused a great divide of opinions. Half the scientists (let's call them the Pro Undead) wanted to continue testing of the formula they used on human corpses, but the other half (let's call them the Anti Undead) thought it was immoral and wrong to use the formula. The two sides split into two separate research groups and facilities. The Pro Undead decided to try to kill of the innocent residents off the local area and reanimate them into an undead army, in hopes of overpowering the Anti Undead, and, possibly, taking over the world. The Anti Undead, however, will try anything to stop Pro from doing so, even murder. Both groups sent out undercover agents to gain the trust of the town and prevent each other from achieving their goals.

Gameplay:

-15 players
-Faction(?)
-Roleflip on inspection and death
-Ballot box lynching

Roles:

Pro Undead:
Pro Agent (x4): These agents have been given the task of eliminating the Anti Undead's agents and converting the entire town to zombies. All four know who each other are, but not who anyone else is. They can choose to either kill a person each night, or mark a person for death. Marking a person for death means that, should that person die, they will be converted to a zombie (Zombie role explained later). A person can only be marked for death for one day and one night phase, and if they do not die during that time frame, they can't be marked again. They can, of course, still be killed.
Winning Conditions: The Anti Undead's agents need to be dead, or majority of the regular townspeople need to be converted to zombies. In either case, the detective must also be dead (Detective explained later).

Anti Undead:
Anti Agent (x4): These agents have been given the task of eliminating the Pro Undead's agents and preventing the rise of the zombies. All four know who each other are, but not who anyone else is. They can choose to either kill a person each night, or shelter a person in their facility, preventing them from being killed, but not marked.
Winning Conditions: The Pro Undead's agents need to be dead, and at least two regular townspeople need to be alive. The detective does not have to survive(poor guy).

The Town:
No one in the town knows who anyone else is.
Detective: The detective can choose to inspect someone each night and learn their role. Also, the Detective can instead choose to inspect the grave of a person who has died in the game. If said person has been converted, the Detective will be told that the body is missing from its grave, but if said person died for real, the Detective will be told that the body still lies in the grave.
Townsperson (x6): Like everyone else in the game, they can submit a lynch vote to the host each day, and their survival is vital.
Winning Conditions: Any townsperson (plus Detective) that hasn't been converted or killed wins with the Anti Undead should the Anti Undead win.

Zombies:
Zombies are a special role in that they are only created from the deaths of existing players. They have all of the abilities of a Townsperson, except they are not allowed to talk in the main topic and are discouraged from talking in the #smbxgames IRC. However, Zombies will have the Pro Undead's agents revealed to them, and therefore side with them, which also means contributing to the nightly kill/mark. Zombies can, of course, be killed a second time, and can't be marked for death.
Anyone who's a Zombie wins if the Pro Undead wins.

Other Notes:
-If the Detective gets converted, he looses the ability to discover roles
-The Anti Undead's agents CAN shelter one of their own
-The Pro Undead's agents can NOT mark one of their own
-Dead players have their names struck through and their role listed beside them, even if they get converted into zombies. If a zombie dies, however, their name will then be colored Brown.

I'm a lazy fuck so I'm gonna send this back up that no one has any interest in.

TUIBAYSNP 1.4

12 players - roleflip - 3 mafia, 8 town - Starts at day not night. - Mafia members know each other when night starts - cops know each other when night starts - insta is not present in this game - can decide not to lynch for the purpose of not have reasons to lynch anyone or, for role abilities.

Mafia

Lawyer: Chooses one player a night, if the chosen player is killed we appear townie and/or inspected will appear sided with town. Can not lawyer self. Sided with mafia.

Hooker: Can hook a player a night, (e.g. roleblock them) Sided with mafia.

Mafiso 2x: A regular mafia member. There are two of them. Sided with mafia. (Hint, hint would be nice to claim cop, even if you were shot, it might help, as you can get the cop shot instead, ad long as your people don't slip. give out an report.)

Town

Sheriff: Can shoot a player during the day once, if the sheriff already shot a player, then the sheriff is just a regular townie. (Hint: should claim day 1, if anyone claims sheriff, shoot them.) Sided with town.

Cop 2x: Two cops. They know each other. They inspect the same person. Can inspect a player a night. If one of them is roleblocked they both are. Sided with town. (Hint: mafia can claim cop, they are minor, as it is two, but still. At least fight against the those who claim cop. Also if you claim cop, say your report, dont say your partner though.)

BlackSmith: Can vest a player each night. If a player is vested they can survive one hit. Can not vest the same person twice. Has 3 vests to give out. Can vest player after day1, then day3, and so on, (examples, vest night one, can vest night 3. Vests night 2, can vest night 4, instead vests night 5. Vests night 1, vests night 3, can vest night 5, instead vest night 7)Can not vest self.(BTW, vests only protect against night kills and one shot from the sheriff, nit lynches) Vest lasts until the vest is hit. Sided with town.

Townie 3x: A townie, blue, or clear, Something. Can only lynch along with every other role. There are 3 of them. Sided with town.

Miller: Ahh it is good to be, miller? Appears town to self. When inspected is as "Sided with mafia". Is actually sided with town.

Postby RoundPiplup » Thu Sep 10, 2015 4:29 pm

Invading the Communist Town (Please don't judge this game based on the title.)

Background story:
Welcome to a new town! Here is where everyone gets to feel equally rich and fair at the same time. But we all know that some people don't like to be fair, so some of the new visitors may want to make everything unfair just to win all the cash. Aside from that, we hope that you enjoy your stay!
Said the news that no one watches.

13 players
Ballot Box game
Quoting(or forwarding) the ENTIRE ROLE PM(that I gave out) isn't allowed. You can however state your role in a PM.
Role reveals upon death(unless if marked and killed)
Lynch Majority(insta lynch can occur)
Insta-Lynches can occur, Knife-the-box can also occur

Most people starts with 100 cash(no they're fake), dies at 0 cash. The maximum amount of cash a player can hold is usually 150(The insurance is 250, the mayor is... don't ask. And the Item seller is 300). Mafia and the Thief's maximum cash amount can change depending on how the mayor dies.
NOTE: All living blue roles gain 50 cash upon lynching a non-green/blue role(it was 25 before but since the mafia seems to easily regain money more than the blue roles...) Gains 25 cash instead of 50 if the mayor dies.

The Capitalists Invadors(MAFIA)
These people are the haters of whoever made the laws of this town. Basically, they just want to get everyone else that won't submit to them off of this town, and claim this land and turn it to what they can call it... A capitalist town.

Every night, they can decide who to invade(no, not picking on someone's wallet) and steal all of their money. Most of the money goes to the capitalist gangster group, while each living member gains 25 cash. However, if the Burglar is killed, the reward for successfully killing someone will only be 25 cash to ONE of the mafia member(they will then have to agree on who gets the cash if there's still 2 alive). If the mayor get invaded, all living mafia members maximum cash will go from 150 to 200, and their wallets will be maxed out(well, only for the day when the mayor gets invaded). Also, the Burglar will gain a special ability.

Disguised House Owner(GodFather): Has a special talent of making illusions with the material he has, but it all comes with a price. Every night he can decide whether to cardflip green for 25 cash for a night, until he has 25(or less) cash remaining. Alternatively, he can spend 50 on materials to mark a target, which stays on for a night/day cycle(the same target can't be marked twice). If the marked target dies, the role won't be revealed. The investigators(or the cops/sheriffs) will then see that this house is basically normal. Cardflips red in general. Starts with 150 cash.

The Dancer's House: Dances to please a target, but has to pay 25 cash to find another unique dance in a website(dont know anything about it) to please the target, causing that person to be role-blocked. Alternatively, she can use 50 cash to make someone get so happy that the target will be silenced(yes, that person will gain the money also, but that person will be so happy that half of the cash is lost). Cardflips red. Starts with 100 cash.

The Burglar's House: Even as a basic mafia role, if he's alive, he can either gain 25 cash after successfully stealing someone's money(the money stolen comes from the group's target, this person can't do a seperate attack) or give that 25 cash to one of his allies. Starts with 100 cash.
IF THE MAYOR DIES BY THE MAFIA: The Burglar will gain a one-time only ability throughout the game where he can separately kill someone(money won't save people from a gun) with a one-shot gun.

The Communist townspeople(TOWN)
These people are just those regular people(mostly regular) that follows the law, despite the fact that they don't like it. They will try to take out those that will abuse the law of this town, no matter what costs them.

The Sheriff's House: He's one of those people who are serious with their job. He's only here for the money, so he's immune to role blocks ONLY if he tries to go for finding out someone's role.(because, he feels like 25 cash is nothing since he gains that same amount(though it does stack up high)). Sadly, his police job isn't giving him money until he tracks down one of the no good baddies. Checks someone's color for 25 cash during the night, or once throughout the entire game, spend 75 cash to understand his target's role. He is careful with his stuff, so he is immune to getting his wallet picked on. Starts with 150 cash. Cardflips blue.

The Insurance Employee's House(Doctor): Every night, this employee can either give 25 cash or 50 cash to someone. This cash won't be applied to being stolen if a invader targets that person(so for example, mafia targets person A. Person B hands in 50 dollars to Person A. Person A will get 0 cash, but will gain 50 cash back, so he won't die). This revive won't apply to the "Fake Book." Alternatively, once throughout the entire game, the employee can send cash to two different people. He protects his wallet from those that picks, so he is immune to getting his wallet picked on. Starts with 250 cash. Cardflips blue.

Mysterious Mailer's House(Penguin): Message someone anonymously(PM me what and who to say) once per night, at the cost of 10 cash(for shipping and handling). Alternatively, the mailer can use 50 cash to create a "Fake Book," and send it to his target. Starts with 100 cash. Cardflips green.

The Mayor: The richest guy in the whole town. Nobody likes him since he gets all the cash. However, he does have a "better" side of himself. Twice throughout the entire game, he will feel generous and give in 100 cash to his target. He also knows what is in the ballot box, but can't tell who submitted it. Alternatively, once throughout the entire game, he can change one the day's voting system into a regular lynch system(however, this has to be done via PM in the night phase) OR can keep it the same lynching system, but knows who voted for who(on that day only... I'll extend the day depending on if this person reads it late. Though I won't extend it forever until it is read). However, even though he is the "richest guy in the town," his protection level is below 0. That being said, one mafia invasion(or one hack) means game over(so, he can't be protected, he can't gain money from his town, he's just dead meat if attacked). Though he is immune to getting killed by having his wallet get picked on. Cardflips blue.

Regular House(Townsperson) x3: These people are just regular workers. Their income is equal to the tax that they have to pay everyday, so they gain nothing from their work. Around the night, they can go to a shelter and stay safe from invasions(this does not include hack immunity) for 50 cash. Also, once throughout the game, they can send 25 cash to someone DURING THE DAY, but that person has to gain cash(from anyone) first in order to give cash to someone. This cash giveaway won't save them if they get invaded in the night, unfortunately. Starts with 100 cash. Cardflips green.

The Retired Murderer's House(Miller): He's known to do bad things before, but people still thinks that he still does it. Thinks he's just a regular Townsperson. He can kill someone for 125 cash since he still wants to get a few last taste of murdering before he retires being a killer... and to become a regular Townsperson again. Though the store that sells him the supplies is running out of bullets, so he can only kill 3 people(separately, so total cost is 250) throughout the game. He can also take shelter for 50 cash(like a regular Townsperson). He's already listed for murdering someone in the past, so he cardflips red. This also means that if he shoots a green/blue role, he will have all of his items that can be "dangerously used" taken away(so he can't use his gun) and tax him whenever he has more than 25 cash(no shelter). His vote counts as 2 until he shoots a green/blue role(then is 1 vote count), and he also cardflips RED. Starts with 150 cash. Wins tie against Mafia only.

Other Houses(Third Party)
All they care for is the money. They don't care if he ruins someone's life, or the town. They only wants to benefit themselves.

Item Seller's House: Every day, he can visit someone and sell items to that person. Such items include: "Fake Book," "The Bomb," and "Illusional Colors." Each costs 50 cash, which if the person spends, you gain the 50 cash. Your goal is to basically sell items until you have enough to move out of town. Starts with 100, Goal is to reach 300. However, if you do reach the goal, you won't be able to do anything since you'll be getting out of town and return to your home. Anyways, this person is immune to night kills, hacks(because he doesn't have a bank account), and the "0 Cash" death(he also can't get less than 0 cash). Though you know that your money can get stolen by hand though. Cardflips Orange.

The Thief's House: Everyday, this picker picks on 2 people's wallet, and steals 50 cash. That being said, if he only picks on one person's wallet, he will steal 100 cash from that person. Alternatively, after the first night passes, he can hack into a person's bank account and destroys all of its money(but sadly, his hacking skills aren't great enough to steal all of it, except the mayor). Starts with 125 cash, maximum amount is 150. HOWEVER, if he hacks the mayor, he will find out that the mayor's account has that much money, try to do his best on stealing it(and succeeding), which then he will gain his full potential... If he does, his future targets after hacking the mayor will be hacked instead of being picked on(because, he no longer needs to worry about being poor in cash). Cardflips orange, but if the mayor is hacked, he Cardflips green.

GOALS:
Town: Kick out the Mafia and the Thief.
Mafia: Outnumber the town and kick the Thief out.
Thief: Bankrupt everyone's money in the town.
Item Seller: Reach 300 cash.

ITEMS:
The Fake Book:

What a interesting book you got there! Or is it!?
This book may look real, but actually has 50 cash inside! If you reach 0 cash, you'll gain back 50 cash and not die due to the tax thing... However, the fake book's illusion can only work once, so the second time this occurs, you'll die instead. Basically, the illusion only works once.
The Bomb

Tick... Tick... Yeah, not this joke again.
You can place one bomb at a time at someone's house, which the person will then be notified that something "creepy" is at their house! After a 2 day/night cycle has passed, the bomb will explode and kill the person. However, you have to be alive if you want it to go boom! Well, I did forgot to mention that it's a manually weak bomb, which takes quite a while to heat up.
Illusional Colors

Oh, it's this favorite color thing again.

You can change the color of yourself on either green, red, blue, or orange, which the effects only stay for a night. Some side effects include cold sore, dizziness, tiredness, and in some cases, death(in a imaginary way).
DISCLAIMER: Probably unbalanced in some sort of way.

Aside from that, this game wasn't made to show that I hate communism/captialism(it's something about history, not going deep into this topic). Basically, I just wanted people to take risks, whether it is to spend your last 25 cash(and die, of course) to save someone else or block someone.

I'll give out a hint or tip when I send out role PMs. Though quoting role PM isn't allowed in this game.
Pseudo-dino wrote: Actually, this game is pretty well balanced as far as I can tell, and I also think that the concept is really cool. I like how you made all abilities cost money, it's a pretty good way to implement money. Approved.

I don't really have time to whip up a brand new game, so I'm not going for host this time around.

Oh btw I think I'm the first user to reach 1000 posts in the Mafia subforum.

HoooooooOOOOOooooo these are some complex games. I'll get around to reviewing them soon, sorry folks. In the meantime...

It's been over six months since Taco King, Mafiaville's (historically) successful fast food restaurant, was attacked by ghost pirates from beyond the grave. Although the management managed to drive off the sp00py undead, many of the restaurant's most valuable customers (or, as they like to say, the Krustomers!) and its beloved manager died in the attack and it has since fallen on hard times. Unfortunately, things just got a lot worse. The ghost pirate crew reappeared in the restaurant again, and it looks like they're back with a vengeance, and hopes of not being eliminated on Day 2! I mean, that's what everyone seems to think is going on, at least. Things are getting really weird lately, and nobody's sure exactly who anyone is any more, or whom to trust...

It's Mafia 24 - The Taco of the Town!
Format - Mystery Game/Role Flip - 17 players

Factions
Mafia-like faction
Town-like faction
???
(colors do not necessarily represent actual cardflip colors)
Base Role PM (for fake role claims) wrote:You are the Role! Every night, you can do something fancy and unique. Unless you don't have a nightly power, or someone else has this same role (well, you'll still have an ability then, but it won't be unique), you know. Try not to die.

Your objective is listed in your faction's PM, right below this...
Town-like faction win condition wrote:You win if all other factions are eliminated.
- Items of some type may be distributed by certain roles. These items can be transferred to other players by PMing the host, although the target will know who gave them the item.
- Faction PMs will be released when a faction is defeated.
- Cardflip colors still exist, and may be revealed by certain roles and/or items.
- Insta-lynches and knife-in-the-boxes are possible.
- Power usage is optional, but all power-having roles must display activity or contact me at least every other night whether or not they are using their power.
- You may want to read the outline for Mafia 18: Murderize Me, Captain! in order to have an idea of what some of the roles may be, as this game is a sequel.
- If you don't want to read that, just know that most of the roles are either people you'd expect to see in a fast food restaurant and/or ghosts.
- It's a Mystery Game, so I can't say too much. Game Masters may PM me if they'd like to know more details, but they won't be allowed to play.

also nice Zeldamaster

Roleflip on death, but certain inspection roles/items may only be able to detect cardflip colors.

Why do I get the feeling I'm going to be mentioned in this game, based on the last ghost pirates-related game?
Even if I'm not, seems pretty good to me. Hope everything is reviewed soon!

Btw Pseudo, it'd be cool if you provided the actual human win condition since as it is atm the Mafia would have a hard time fakeclaiming a human role.
