Little Mac Makes His HD Debut
Okay, many of us saw this one coming. In case you don't know who this man is, this is Little Mac, the main character from the popular NES Classic Punch-Out, which was first released in February of 1984. Little Mac was likely put into the game due to popular demand, but I for one believe that they had this planned all along. He is a special character because he comes from a slightly more realistic setting; the real world sport of boxing. Not to mention that he doesn't use a sword or special powers to help him win his fights. He uses his BOXING GLOVES. If that isn't enough to face a turtle dragon head on, then I don't know what is. But one this that is interesting about him is that he has a move that can one-hit k.o anybody in his way. The only problem is that he has to charge it in order for it to take effect. Other than that, Little Mac is still a fast moving, powerful character under the roster's belt, and I'm glad that he was added.
The Kooplings Learn to Drive; More Retro Courses
This reveal was a bit more surprising to me. The Kooplings becoming playable characters in Mario Kart 8, what a handful. Now you may be asking, "what might make them so special?" If I had to think of one answer off the top of my head, there are likely weight classes, and being that none of the kooplings have the same appearance, that could be a heavy effect on the gameplay. Who knows, maybe we'll get special abilities like double-dash. The only complaint I have about this is that we could have had characters who were a bit more memorable, like Petey Piranha, or King Boo, or even Funky Kong, but it doesn't quite phase me that much. All I'm thinking about now is playing as Roy. In other news, Wii's Grumble Volcano and Toad Factory will be returning as retro courses as well as DS Tick Tock Clock. Mario Kart 8 is scheduled to release on May 30, 2014.
Third Party News; Knuckles on Steroids
This... Now as many of you know the Sonic Team revealed Sonic Boom's Character Artwork last week. And it, in my opinion, is pretty bad. Sonic looks like he came out of the closet. It makes me appreciate the designs of Tails and Amy to a degree, and thats bad. And don't get me started on Knuckles. Hit the gym since your last appearance? Seriously, you can grind meat on his arms. We can only hope that the game is better than the characters.
