I'm tired of people backseat moderating a lot, it gets annoying when it constantly happens when people should know that they aren't a staff (yet?).
If there is a better way to prevent this from spreading more, can we at least get some strict thing for stuff like that.
Well basically, we had a whole bunch of backseat moderating in September and October, it was decreasing in November, but it just got ruined in December (thankfully only 2).
It gets annoying and I feel like that there should be something done to remind them not to backseat moderate anymore, I don't think this forum deserves to suffer from it anymore.
I don't know if it's whether the people who still do so forget that rule in just 3 seconds or they do it for (what reason?) something else.
This is probably stupid, but it's starting to sound way to similar to franchise wikis.

I usually see backseat moderating reported and handled when it appears, which isn't that common. It doesn't seem like that big an issue in this community from my experience, honestly.

I had already brought up backseat moderating in the past. We just decided to keep doing what we were doing and eventually it would die down, and it did in the end, so it's not really an issue now. We're just going to do what we always do, tell people not to when we see them doing it.

Yes. The report feature helps us a lot in dealing with rule breaking.

I actually thought that by ''BMing'' you meant it as in Bad Manner, by that i actually came in here expecting to see mention of me or ragont lmao
anyway, yeah, i think the report button is just enough, considering backseat moderating is already against the rules and people already get scolded for that shit.

Some people will always do that. Just use the report button and report them, bc by literally replying to them or adressing it ur making a useless post.

please dont make threads like this
nah seriously the report button should be enough. if it bothers you so much, just report it. reports are taken care off pretty quickly around here, pretty much the moment a staff mebmer comes online. i really dont see what the problem is.
also isnt this thread technically you backseat moderating backseat moderators to not backseat moderate while you backseat moderate?

I love it when people don't use the report button and are basically backseat moderating themselves.

It gets annoying when it is always just the same thing like a hundred times again, and again.
Someone backseat moderates, then that person gets reported.
First it was me making fun of the way I say it in reality, but it gets annoying fast.
Otherwise, the whole "Don't backseat moderate" thing shouldn't even be part of the Misc. rule, it should be a separate rule if it's that important.
Also Marina, I kinda thought of the same thing but it would end up being a loop like that otherwise:
Telling someone about backseat moderating, whose telling someone not to backseat moderating, whose telling some not to backseat moderate... (it just goes on)

Examples?

ya, i don't see a problem here.

I actually have no idea of what you're trying to say here
Otherwise, the whole "Don't backseat moderate" thing shouldn't even be part of the Misc. rule, it should be a separate rule if it's that important.
the thing is, it's not that important, backseat moderating is a lot less agressive than flaming or posting nsfw content.
The misc. rules section mostly covers backseat moderation anyway.
Also Marina, I kinda thought of the same thing but it would end up being a loop like that otherwise:
Telling someone about backseat moderating, whose telling someone not to backseat moderating, whose telling some not to backseat moderate... (it just goes on)
There is no "otherwise" in here, marina just stated that you're basically contradicting the point of your thread.

It just gets old when all it is the staff telling them not to.
It should be more strict than that.

"it gets old" isn't a very valid argument
Most of the people who get told to not backseat moderate almost immediately stop, it's also not worth a ban (considering the warning system was removed, although there was literally nothing wrong with it) unless the person just ignores the moderation's comments and keeps doing it anyway.

It doesn't even happen that much, and when we see it, we tell the person not to do it. Nine times out of ten, they don't do it again, so what's the problem here? Just keep using the report feature when you see a rule being broken and we'll take care of it.

Is it annoying to some? Yes, apparently. Is there any need for a stricter rule regarding its commitment? No, definitely not.
People are bound to do it for a short period of time like it has been said already, and you know that since you even said "just got ruined in December". If you ignore those people and/or report them you'll do just fine. It's not that of a big deal to begin with since in its core it's still someone trying to help another user comprehend what he/she did wrong.
The staff already brought up the subject on their own and they've reached a conclusion. If things get worse they'll handle all the shit by themselves, just how it should be. So chill out man, it's really nothing you should worry about.

I simply ignore it.
Don't bother intervening. The staff is pretty good at dealing with those issues anyways, especially something as minor as this. If it really annoys you that much (which I doubt), then either report it or ignore it.
