Question about 2.0 costumes

Postby AndrewPixel » Fri Apr 07, 2017 3:23 pm

In Mario Challenge (new 2.0 game mode), there is a block which changes costumes (Es. Klonoa --> Yoshi ; Rosalina --> Big Boo), but how can I use them in other game modes? :?:

You have to open up the level editor and add the blocks into the levels of the episodes yourself.

There's a cheat code (dressmeup) to change the costume and I don't think it disables your ability to save.

This is a bug that will most likely be fixed in the next version of SMBX, but, on the world map on an episode(if there isn't a code to disable changing the character than you can do this), you can go into the pause menu and push the left or right arrow keys to select one of the 2.0 characters and then continue.

That is going to be changed to where 2.0 characters can be disabled. I remember breaking the first TI with 2.0 characters. I randomly found it on my old PC.

Is there a way to permanently keep Mario as SMW Mario and Luigi as SMW Luigi without having to place the block in every level? I wanted to make an entire episode in SMW style and have the Mario World player character mechanics.

Just put the player masks in the episode folder so it acts like global custom graphics?

Using costumes by not using costumes. Genius move.

Put this into your episode-wide luna.lua file:
Player.setCostume(CHARACTER_MARIO, "SMW-Mario")
CHARACTER_MARIO can be replaced with the names for the others. The costume name in quotation marks is the same name as the folder name of the costume. So for luigi:
Player.setCostume(CHARACTER_LUIGI, "SMW-Luigi")

Hello! I'm trying to do the same thing, but I'm new to smbx2.0. Do you think you could elaborate further on this? Stuff like, What the 'episode-wide' folder is, and where the 'luna.lua' file is/comes from.

the episode-wide folder refers to the folder that contains your level files, custom graphics that apply to the whole episode, etc.

the "luna.lua" file is a file you make yourself and edit with a standard text editor. when placed inside the aforementioned folder, the script you put in there will apply to every level.
