Super Blue Blood Moon (01/31/2018 only)

Postby FireyPaperMario » Tue Jan 30, 2018 5:10 pm

Just discovered this rare event online this morning on Twitter while going to class!

In case y'all never watch The Weather Channel nor didn't heard, the Super Blue Blood Moon is a "once in a lifetime" event which last happened on March 31, 1886, where the moon changes into Super moon. Then it becomes Blue moon. And finally, the moon becomes a Blood moon.

Who's going to see this event?!? ^^

I never even got a chance to see it because of clouds, and because I couldn't stay up to see it.

Yeah same except I'm in a house and then my house's roof is blocking my view.

For me, I noticed the moon more, but I don't think it was super or blue. It did glow yellow through the nightly fog, however.

A blue moon is just a 2nd full moon in a month, or the 4th in a season. It has nothing to do with the colour. A super moon is just when the moon appears larger than normal. Shame I did not see it.

Wait, all my enemies I killed will be alive again, fuck.

Hold on, does that mean an army of about a billion goombas will come to murder everyone?

I was think about posting this as well, but it was over Austrailia meaning it was on January 30th for Americans. The specific time was around 04:51 Central Standard Time on January 31st from what I understand. Next one will happen in 2037.

Edit: I could care less about it being a Snow moon (Blue moon) since that looks no different. A blood moon is just red because of a total Lunar eclipse. A super moon is just bigger and brighter since it is the point the moon is closest to the Earth. I will let people know if I find out the time for the next Super Blood Moon.
Space.com wrote:The lunar eclipse on Jan. 21, 2019, also happens to be a so-called supermoon. This means that the moon will be at perigee, or the point in its elliptical orbit at which it is closest to Earth.

The earth's atmosphere scatters the shorter wavelength blue light, hence the sky is blue. The longer wavelength red light is not scattered as much, so the light that reaches the moon (which during the eclipse is the light passing through the atmosphere) has more red wavelengths due to the blue light being scattered. So, the moon appears red. At least, that's my understanding of it.
