Episode projects you liked but ended up dead.

Postby Public Enemy Number 1 » Sat May 30, 2020 6:25 pm

Now, this doesn't explicitly mean "confirmed cancelled", but projects that have been so inactive that they might as well be. This is not a topic for bashing inactive members. They have their own life and might've even grew out of SMBX. Minimum is one year of silence if it hasn't been explicitly cancelled.

For me, it's Mario and Luigi: Quest of Fear. Looked absolutely amazing from the screenshots and had an interesting premise, but alas, the creator is inactive.

Lower's Conquest looked pretty neat and also provided some useful Sprites for me, before I learned to draw
my own Characters. OG Xenon for Example.

I wouldn't say Lowser's Conquest is fully cancelled. Sednaiur just takes himself a loooooot of time

SMBX Around the World (MegaCDFan) is definitely something I miss. Mix World 3 is also RIP.
Mosaic's projects are most likely not completed either.

Along with the ones mentioned above, also I liked my own project, which was once called Super Mario and the 7 Grand Stars. I worked on the first world back in 2016 and even published a demo, but I lost motivations and cancelled it.
I even tried to revive it once, but to no avail, I cancelled it again. But I am reviving it once again, with better concepts and Beta 4's smoothness, hopefully.

Mosaic's projects, as he gave up on them.

Honestly I have a couple projects that part of me really wants to work on but y'know, finding the motivation to do so is not always easy.

I announced a project called "Tamara's Quest: Remastered Edition" in like early 2017, which is a remake of an episode i made in like 2012- it's basically intended to be vastly improved over the original since i was still kinda an SMBX Newbie when i made the original.

I've done work on it here and there, but shit, after 3 years I only have 3 levels finished and a handful of graphics. Hopefully one of these days I'll be able to just sit down and get cranking. It only took me about a month to make the original because I worked on it constantly... I just need a similar motivational spike for this and ill be good, ha. There's a couple other project ideas I have too... really, part of me really wants to get back into SMBX as a whole but i cant seem to motivate myself to do so.

I was looking forwards to a sequel to one of the most popular and liked episodes (at the time). But then the user was found to be a bad person and got banned, meaning that their project is pretty much cancelled.

(I know it's been less than a year, but it's highly unlikely it will get continued due to the actions of said user.)

Motivation is a tricky thing, especially since making a SMBX episode can be pretty time-consuming. I've had the same problem - throughout most of like 2012-17 I really tried to keep my old project, The Ultimate Armada, alive. It started on the old forums but either I'd lose motivation or be dissatisfied and wipe it clean. I must have restarted it 3 or 4 times before finally letting it die. I did make significant progress on a new episode last year, and the files are still on my old laptop, so at some point I hope to return to it.

Best of luck to you with your project! I hope you can find time to continue work on yours!

Honestly I wish that every time people start a new project they somehow include some of their old levels so the old work doesn't go to waste completely

Cancelled projects you miss

Postby Luna » Fri Dec 04, 2020 8:00 am

We all know these projects that were never completed. There are many reasons a project can be cancelled for, however, we're focusing on the projects themself, not the reasons they got cancelled for. Also, projects of users who abandoned SMBX count as well.

So, what is the project you miss the most?

Well, I miss Attack of the Darkness. I loved the concepts of the project and wanted to contribute. But after leaving SMBX, and came back recently, I found out AotD was cancelled. It's a shame this happened.

Funny how I named mostly the same things back then, but yeah Lowsers Conquest is also a thing I completely forgot about
